Kevin Oakes

Kevin Oakes has won Event 9 thanks to a chop decided between the final four players to take home the WPT Trophy and top prize money worth $31,186. Here is what he had to say right after the victory, “I don’t know yet, it feels really good. I’ve only been playing tournament poker for a little over a year. I knew a breakthrough was coming, I didn’t know when it was going to be. I almost did not play this event,” said Oakes.

“From the beginning of this event until now, it was just unbelievable. I never got coolered, I never took a bad beat. I didn’t know I was going to win it, but it just gave me a lot of confidence,” said Oakes about his journey through the tournament field.

“I had great tables, the guys I played with at every table I really enjoyed everybody that I played with. We had a good group at the final table, we had a blast. I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the staff here and the dealers, and Rachel (massage therapist) has been my good luck charm. She started with me last night, and I told her, ‘As long as I’m in this tournament you’re with me,” said Oakes about his overall tournament experience here at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
