Karl Manouchakian

Flight A of the Pinktober Poker Open Main Event has come to an end with 15 players remaining of the 101 starters. It was a tight race for the chiplead right up to the end when Karl Manouchakian took a big pot from Herbert Woodbery.

It was good enough to push him up to 433,000 and the overall lead after one flight. Peter Walsworth put 369,000 away followed by Derek Bowers with 360,000 and Woddbery with 310,000.

Full chip counts will be posted as soon as they are available.

Main Event Day 1A: Last Level of the Night

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14: 1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante
Players Remaining: 18 of 101

Flight A is down to the last level of the evening not long after they hit the last two tables of the day. It looks like Herbert Woodbery is the frontrunner to end with the lead but anything can happen between now and the end of the day.

Main Event Day 1A: John O’Neal Doubles Through Herbert Woodbery

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 13: 1,500/2,500 with a 2,500 ante
Players Remaining: 19 of 101

John O’Neal

We missed the early action but it ended with John O’Neal all in and at risk for 69,000. Herbert Woodbery called with a much bigger stack.

O’Neal: AsKs
Woodbery: QdQh

It was a fair fight and O’Neal took the lead on the Ah3s3d flop. The board finished with the 6s turn and 8s river to improve O’Neal to an overkill nut flush. He doubled up but Woodbery still holds one of the bigger stacks.

John O’Neal – 145,500 (56 bb)
Herbert Woodbery – 365,000 (140 bb)

Main Event Day 1A: Peter Walsworth Chasing Tom Nguyen

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 22 of 101

Peter Walsworth

The last break of the day is nearly upon us and the remaining players will have a little breather before playing out the last two levels of the evening.

There are a lot of stacks hovering around and near the average while two are going big. Tom Nguyen continues to lead with 312,000 but Peter Walsworth is not far behind with 310,500.

Main Event Day 1A: Three Tables Remain

Level 12: 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante
Players Remaining: 27 of 101

Ok Haselton (left) and Tony March (right)

In a snap, Flight A is down to the last three tables of the day and we should lose about half of those before we are done.

There are still some Tampa regulars battling to make it through including Ok Haselton, Tony March, Herbert Woodbery, and Justin Zaki.

Main Event Day 1A: Tom Nguyen Leads Late

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 11: 1,000/1,500 with a 1,500 ante
Players Remaining: 40 of 101

Tom Nguyen

Now that registration is closed on Flight A, the field is shrinking quickly. They are down to 40 players remaining and not too many away from the last four tables.

SHR Tampa regular Tom Nguyen looks like your current leader with dead on 250,000 after the dinner break.

Main Event Day 1A: Registration Closed with 101 Entries

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 500/1,500 with a 1,500 ante
Flight A Entries: 101

The dinner break is complete and Main Event players are back in their seats with registration closed. The accounting was quick and Flight A officially drew 101 entries for a great start to the tournament. That also means  another $1,010 donated to the American Cancer Society.

With two big flights on Friday and Saturday, the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool looks like a virtual lock.

Flight A players have five more levels to negotiate, with a break after Level 12, before survivors bag up for a Day 2 return on Sunday.

Main Event Day 1A: Nearing Triple Digits

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 9: 500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Flight A Entries: 99

Karl Manouchakian

Tampa regular Karl Manouchakian took his seat after the second break. He owns one of those popular SHR Tampa poker guitar trophies for a win during the 2016 WPTDeepStacks series and came very close to getting a big one last past summer.

Manouchakian was one unlucky river card away from booking a win in the $1,650 Mega Stack event, settling for second as Mario De La Puente took the title.

Main Event Day 1A: Another WSOP Champ Joins

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8: 400/800 with a 800 ante
Flight A Entries: 93

John Gorsuch

We mentioned Femi Fashakin earlier, one of our regulars who won his first WSOP bracelet this summer and it a huge tournament.

John Gorsuch is another with a big 2019 win in Las Vegas. He was part of the 8,809-entry field in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker and cruised to the bracelet that came along with a $1,344,930 payout. Not only was the first bracelet for Gorsuch, but it was also his first recorded tournament win.

Not a bad way to break through to the top of the podium.

Unfortunately for Fashakin, we found Gorsuch sitting in Fashakin’s previous seat. Swapping one champ for another.

Main Event Day 1A: New Leader John King

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 7: 300/600 with a 600 ante
Flight A Entries: 88

John King

The second break of the day is complete and the entry count is creeping up on 90 with more than three hours remaining for late registration or re-entry.

Mitch Smith was our chip leader at the first break, he continued to build his stack and is up to 125,000 at that midpoint of the day. But John King went a little bit bigger and returned from break with his stack at 133,000.

Main Event Day 1A: Bracelet Winner Joins

Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries: 83

Femi Fashakin

The Florida poker scene has a lot of talent spread around the Sunshine State with its fair share of huge success. We have one of our more recent success stories in the Pinktober Poker Open Main Event this afternoon.

This past summer, Femi Fashakin joined the ranks of WSOP bracelet winners from Florida and he to do a lot of work to do to get his. The World Series of Poker celebrated its 50th anniversary this summer in Las Vegas and put together a tournament called The Big 50, a $500 buy-in game with four starting flights.

The tournament drew a whopping 28,371 entries, the biggest field in WSOP history, and Fashakin made it through that massive field to earn the bracelet along with a $1,147,449 payday.

An insane “return on investment”.

Main Event Day 1A: Nathaniel Palombo Doubles

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 ante
Flight A Entries: 78

Nathaniel Palombo

With the flop reading Ac6h5c and 7,500 already in the pot, Nathaniel Palombo checked on the button and his opponent bet 13,500. Palombo pulled a check-raise all in for 23,600 which prompted his opponent to stand up from his chair.

After talking and thinking it through, Palomob got the call he wanted.

Palombo: 5d5h
Opponent: AdKs

Both players hit the flop but Palombo’s bottom set had a virtual lock on the hand against top pair/top kicker. The 4s turn left his opponent drawing dead to the 3s river and Palombo moved up to 54,700.

Main Event Day 1A: Count Still Climbing

$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5: 200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight A Entries: 70

Anthony Dianaty

We had another handful of entries jump into the Main Event to hit a 70 spot on the tournament board. With a full Friday and Saturday left to go, this is a nice start.

Anthony Dianaty and John O’Neal are in today’s field and both have some nice results here. Dianaty is one min-cash away from pushing his career earnings over $300,000 while O’Neal made two big Tampa final tables; seventh place in the 2016 Winter Poker Open Championship and eighth place in the 2018 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event.

Level 4: 200/300 with a 300 ante

Mitch Smith

The first break is complete and we have our first big stack of the Main Event. Mitch Smith began his day with a 30,000 starting stack but sits atop the counts after the first break with 70,400 after three levels. There are several stacks not far behind so he’ll some competition with 11 more levels to go today.

Level 3: 100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight A Entries: 60

The clock is ticking down in Level 3 and players will soon take their first break of the day. There are 60 entries so far with a lot of time to push it higher.

While they are away, we will take our first opportunity to see who ran up an early stack in the Main Event.

Level 3: 100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight A Entries: 50

Peter Walsworth

The blinds are up and the entry count hit an even 50 before noon for a good start to the day. We expect more to join (or rejoin if needed) before registration closed more than six hours from now.

Peter Walsworth wasted no time getting in his seat. The Tampa regular has more than $1,000,000 in career earnings including a nice win here in the August Deep Stack tournament. Walsworth has a couple six-digit scores on the east coast at our sister room in Hollywood and he made the Event 4 final table two days ago.

Level 2: 100/100 with a 100 ante
Flight A Entries: 39

Woodrow Pass

The seats are filling in nicely while the morning moves into the afternoon. Players are waking up, getting to the poker room, and getting into the action.

Woodrow Pass was here early and working up his stack. The SHR Tampa regular had a nice September at these tables with five cashes, four final table and two wins. One of those final tables was a second place finish and another for third place.

Pass picked up one of his four guitar trophies last October when he won the Triple Stack Pinktober Poker Open tournament.
