2019 Pinktober Poker Open
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa
$1,100 Pinktober Main Event (Re-Entry)
Prize Pool: $447,360
October 17-20, 2019
(Tampa, FL) — The 2019 Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Pinktober Poker Open debuted a new format for its Main Event this, increasing the buy-in to $1,100, upping the guaranteed prize pool to $300,000, and adding more play to the structure. People noticed the change and it had a great turnout. Miramar Florida’s own David Nathaniel completed a long Day 2 by taking the title outright for $93,545.
The Main Event featured three starting flights and the 466 entries easily surpassed the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool to put $447,360 up for grabs. Of those starting entries, only 78 survived Day 1 with 47 of them set to earn some money.
The field played down to the money bubble after the first break and it moved along at a steady clup until the last three tables. That’s where the pace slowed as the levels increased to 90 minutes and the stacks deepened.
They formed the final table ten at 10 pm but we would not have a winner for another five hours; there was plenty of play built into the structure. Quyen Hoang began the final table with a huge lead, seemed set to dominate with a lot of pressure on his opponents, but ultimately settled for fourth place. Nathaniel entered the final table seventh out of tenth in chips but battled throughout to take a lead into heads up play with Rodney Turvin.
The two swapped the lead several times but Nathaniel won the last, critical hand to take home the title along with the $93,545 payday.
This result continues a nice SHR Poker run for Nathaniel with the win coming on the heels of a 10th place finished in the WSOP Circuit Coco Main Event a few weeks ago. That will be good enough to push him into the lead in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race.
Congratulations to David and thank you to all of our great players for a fantastic Pinktober Poker Open series!
