Pocket 9s Good For Two Double Ups

$1,650 No Limit Hold’em WPT Championship

Level 17:  Blinds 2,500/5,000/500 ante

Don Matthews is the latest elimination, dropping the field to 29 players, just two from the money.

Glen Chorny’s 470k stack was picked up and moved to a different table to balance, much to the relief of his former tablemates.

Anthony Dianaty opened utg and Tony March made it 15k from the hijack.  Anthony raised to 100k straight, enough to cover Tony.

After some thought, Tony called all-in for 87,500 showing pocket 9s.  Anthony had AJ offsuit.  The board came A 7 5 9 8 and Tony binked a set on the turn to double up to about 175k.  Anthony was left with about 140k.

Adamastor SantosJean Gaspard opened from the hijack and Adamastor Santos (above) shoved for 45,500 from the small blind.  Jean called, showing 7d6d.  Santos had 9d9s.  The flop was huge for Santos, 9h6h6c, giving him a full house.  The last two fell safely 4cAd and Santos doubled up to ~100k.
