Peter Burrell & Tony Roque
Burrell & Roque

Peter Burrell (Orlando, FL) gets run over by pocket Aces before the end of registration and jumps back into the tournament, only to find that he’s now sitting next to his nemesis.

“It was a bad shove,” says Burrell, who moved all in  with 18 big holding AQ against Tony Roque’s (Wesley Chapel, FL) AA.

“I don’t really want to be sitting here either,” he says as the luck of the draw lands Burrell back at Roque’s table.

Not only does Roque have a big stack with more than 70k, but he also has position on Burrell.

Narvaez hits a King on the turn and to add insult to the elimination, the river brings a 9. “Set over set,” says the player as he contemplates re-entering.

Narvaez takes his stack to 50k and is one of the chip leaders.

Nguyen & Arvay
Nguyen & Arvay

The Tampa poker market is alive and well and the die hards are back after yesterday’s crazy day that featured two Main Event trophies and the first flight of this event.

Tom Nguyen (Tampa, FL), who picked up $8,480 as part of a 10-way chop in Event 1, is in the field. He arrives to the table to see Woody Pass (Tampa, FL) and Bob Arvay (Tampa, FL) tangle in a hand.

“Here’s a 1,700 donation,” says Arvay after Pass’ river bet. “Then fold and give me the money,” quips Pass who misses two draws and turns over Jack-high.

Arvay’s pocket Kings are best, but he was leery Pass hit trip 8s on the paired board. “I played with him enough to know I was crushed or it was a complete bluff.”

“I might as well go home if you can’t hit 17 outs,” says Pass who had an open ended straight and flush draws going to river.

This is by far the most interesting of the early tables and includes Bridget Freemon (Lakeland, FL) who appears to be the life of the party.
