Level 15:  2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 ante

Hassan Hakim

Action has been slow as the field cruised into the late parts of the day. The money bubble is still some distance in the future and they will hit another break before they get there.

The field dropped one spot closer in a battle of Poker Tampa regulars. Herbert Woodbery open-shoved for 52,000 from the hijack and Hassan Hakim called on the button to put him at risk.

Hakim: Ah9c
Woodbery: 3d3h

“Fair fight,” said a tablemate.

Woodbery needed his threes to hold to double up but Hakim paired his ace on the Ac7s2h flop to take the lead. The Js turn and 5h produced no other three or running cards to save Woodbery’s buy-in.

Hassan Hakim – 245,500 (49 bb)

Event 1 Day 1A: Steve Blackmon Leads Tight Race

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14:  1,500/3,000 with a 3,000 ante

Steve Blackmon

Cards are back in the air for Flight A after the third break and they should see one more before calling it a day. We have 36 players remaining and action will come to an end when 12 remain.

Emmanuel Santos made another run to become the chip leader but fell a few yellow chips short. Steve Blackmon is the new leader with 415,000 going into Level 13 with Santos right behind with 412,000.

Event 1 Day 1A: David Edwards Moves to the Top

$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10:  800/1,600 with a 1,600 ante
Players Remaining:  52 of 115

David Edwards

We have new levels and a new leader. While Emmanuel Santos is still riding a big stack, he dropped to 210,000 and David Edwards built his over 240,000. That’s good enough for a new leader heading into the latter parts of the day.

We have 52 players remaining and they will continue today until only 12 advance to Day 2 in the money.

Event 1 Day 1A: Emmanuel Santos Leads

$500 Mega Stack (Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8:  500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante

Emmanuel Santos

The second break came to an end and players returned to their seats with registration closed for Flight A. The opening day of the series drew 115 entries to leave it only 118 away from the $100,000 guarantee, a virtual lock for tomorrow’s Flight B.

Emmanuel Santos made the most of his first eight levels, building up his stack to 234,900 for the mid-day chip lead.

Level 7:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Day 1 Entries:  100

Anthony Pellegrini

Flight A hit 100 entries as the field rolled into Level 7 for a great start to the series. They are nearly halfway to the guarantee and it should get there before registration closes on Friday. For today, they have a little over one hour to spin the number higher.

Anthony Pellegrini was in the game early and the Tampa Poker regular is trying to add another title to go with his Winter Poker Open PLO win.

The first break of Event 1 has come and gone and we have a great group for a Thursday afternoon. More than 90 entries with big crowds expected for the weekend, the $100,000 guarantee is going to be crushed.

WSOP bracelet winner Al Krux and WPTDeepStacks Tampa champ Anthony Astarita drew seats next to each other, two of the tougher players in today’s field.

Event 1 Day 1A: Kicking off the Series

Level 1:  100/100

Our next big series is here as we kick off the 2021 Pinktober Poker Open this morning at 11 am with Flight A of Event 1. It is a $500 Mega Stack with three starting flights and a huge $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm with unlimited re-entries during that time. There are two ways the flight can end; players will bag up at the end of Level 16 or they will stop early if they drop down to 10% of the starting field. Either way, those with chips will advance to Day 2 on Sunday.

Action gets underway at 11 am and we will pick up the action at the first break.
