With entry number 118 this afternoon, Pinktober Poker Open Event 1 officially pushed the prize pool over the $100,000 guarantee. That’s a great start and there’s plenty of time to run it up with registration open today until 3:30 pm and a big final flight expected tomorrow.

Flight B took its first break of the day with more than 100 entries putting the tournament on the verge of hitting the $100,000 guarantee. They need 118 today to hit the mark and it should get there easily with registration open for two more hours.

Kyle Rignola is back in the room less than a month since he won his first Tampa tournament. He took part in the September Super Stacks series and took down the $250 Deep Stack Event 6 title.

Event 1 Day 1B: Eyeing the Guarantee

After a successful start to the series, we move into the first weekend with Flight B of the $500 Mega Stack. Flight A drew 115 entries to leave Event 1 only 118 away from hitting the $100,000 guarantee and we should get there this afternoon.

Players start with 40,000 mega stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm. Flight B will continue into the evening until only 10% of the field remains.

Those players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday in the money along with the 12 from Flight A and those who make it through Flight B.

Cards go in the air at 11 am and we will pick up coverage when they reach the first break.

Event 1 Day 1A: Scott Blackmon Bursts the Bubble; Bags the Lead

Steve Blackmon

After extended bubble play that saw them move 20 minutes into Level 20, Steve Blackmon was a big race to burst the bubble. He had his opponent at risk with AsKs versus QcQs and found a king on the Kc4s3c flop. It held after the 5s turn and 9d to knock the field down to 12.

Blackmon bagged the biggest stack with a very nice 976,000 followed by Zachary Eisenbaum with 658,000 and Emmanuel Santos with 586,000.

Those 12 players will return on Sunday at noon for Day 2 in the money. We will post the full list of counts as soon as it is available.

Event 1 Day 1A: Money Bubble

After a long stretch of play, Flight A reached the money bubble when Charlie Kapetanakos was eliminated by Zachary Eichenbaum in a tough beat. Kapetanakos was flipping to double, flopped a set of eights, but Eichenbaum went runner-runner for a straight to send him out.

They will now play hand-for-hand until one more player is eliminated.

Kevin Blewitt

Kevin Blewitt was one of our max late reg players today but not by his choice. The Tampa Poker regular found an unlucky river on the last hand before registration closed, re-entered, but making the most out of this shot. Blewitt is up to 190,000 and only a handful of eliminations away from a Day 2 seat.
