Event 1 Flight E: Joseph Acquavella Knocks Two Out

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 7: 300/600 with a 75 ante
Flight E Entries: 197 (Total Entries: 622)

Joseph Acquavella

We found Table 3 in a big hand with the chips already in the middle. It was a three-way pot with three all-ins and Joseph Acquavella holding the biggest stack. But he needed to catch up to win the hand.

Acquavella held AsKh and was up against QhQd and 4s4c. Not quite a race but he moved out front on the AdTc2h flop. The players with the pairs called for a set but neither materialized on the 2s turn or Ac river to send Acquavella up to 60,000.

Event 1 Flight E: Over $300K Up for Grabs

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 200/400 with a 50 ante
Flight E Entries: 188 (Total Entries: 613)

Andra Zachow

The entry count zoomed right on past 175 and that means they are now playing for more than $300,000 in the prize pool. The next milestone is 313 entries away to match Event 1’s numbers from last year. It won’t happen in this flight but we should get their easily this evening.

We have a lot of locals showing up for the weekend grind including Andra Zachow. She’s back in town looking to build on her success last month. Zachow was in Vegas in May and won the Venetian Nightly for a nice $3,500 payout. And that was one day after she final tabled and finished fourth in the Aria Nightly. A nice little heater heading into the summer.

Event 1 Flight E: Andrew Pacifico Up Big

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5: 150/300 with a 25 ante
Flight E Entries: 168 (Total Entries: 593)

Andrew Pacifico

We had no problem finding the big stack in the room today. Unlike yesterday when they were slow to build an early castle, Andrew Pacifico ran his up in a big way over the first four levels. His 84,500 was the biggest first break lead we’ve had so far and no one was close this afternoon.

But there’s still a long way to go and he’ll have to keep moving forward if he wants to stay ahead.

Event 1 Flight E: Ticking Clock

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3: 75/150
Flight E Entries: 141 (Total Entries: 565)

David Tuthill

The last level turned out to be a good one for the entry count. It averaged one new entry (or re-entry) every minute over that level to put another 30 in the game. The pace is not sustainable but we are in the middle of a nice rush.

David Tuthill is one of our new players this afternoon, opting to enter the tournament on the biggest day. He can add to an already impressive list of accomplishments with a deep run. Tuthill made his first WSOP final table in 2010, won a WSOP Circuit Main Event in 2013, and added two more WSOP final tables in 2015 only ten days apart.

Event 1 Flight E: Michael Laake Returns

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3: 75/150
Flight E Entries: 111 (Total Entries: 535)

Michael Laake

They keep coming in. There’s a steady parade of players to buy-in but no line with the streamlined registration process. Flight E crossed over 100 entries before the clock hit noon and we’ll book the biggest flight of the tournament before too long.

Tampa poker legend Michael Laake made his return to the poker room after an unsuccessful shot in last evening’s flight. He has a few milestones in his near future and can cross one off sometime tomorrow. Laake has nine reported career tournament wins and he can hit double digits if he hoists the Event 1 trophy. He can also get a little closer to hitting the $1,000,000 mark in career earnings with less than $80,000 left to go.

Event 1 Flight E: Past Champ

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 2: 50/100
Flight E Entries: 83 (Total Entries: 507)

Claudemir Osorio

We had another large group of players jump into the tournament after the start to push the combined total of entries past 500. That puts the prize pool over $250,000 and it will grow much larger as the day moves along.

One of those entries belongs to Claudemir Osorio. The SHRP regular was the last player standing in this event during the 2016 series, topping a field of 698 to walk away with $36,620 after a six-way deal at the final table. Osorio also won the $560 Deep Stack Spring Poker Series the year before so he’s probably pretty confident coming in.

Event 1 Flight E: Time Running Out

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 25/50

We are rolling through the first weekend of the WPTDeepStacks series and you only have two chances remaining to get into the big opening event. The $570 buy-in tournament already cleared the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool and they will continue piling up the money until registration closes this evening.

The penultimate flight kicks off at the top of the hour and it should be a huge day in the poker room.

All Event 1 entrants sit down to a 20,000 starting stack and play 30-minute levels on Day 1. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and they are scheduled to play 14 levels. Anyone still around will bag their chips and return tomorrow for Day 2.

Cards fly at 11am and it will be a fun day to grind.

  • $200,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips
  • Day 1 levels last 30 minutes; Day 2 levels last 40 minutes
  • Late registration available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion
  • Players participating in multiple Day 1’s may choose their best stack for start of Day 2
