Event 1 Flight F: Last Year No Match

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3: 75/150
Flight F Entries: 104 (Total Entries: 738)

Carlos Loving

Event 1 hit another milestone and it came before the first break of Flight F. With entry 104, the tournament has matched the attendance of this event last year and they have more than three hours to increase it.

One of the new entries belongs to Carlos Loving. He has double-digit wins for his career, including two WSOP Circuit rings and three major SHRP Hollywood titles, but he is still looking for his first title in his hometown.

Event 1 Flight E: Andrew Pacifico Bags Top Stack

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 14: 1,500/3,000 with a 400 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 43 of 209

Andrew Pacifico

Andrew Pacifico had the biggest stack at the first break and he has the biggest at the end of the night. He didn’t go wire-to-wire but he did the work to get back to the top.

He put 237,500 away from his Day 2 return tomorrow followed by Nick Avena with 201,000. We also have at least one player who put together two bags this tournament as Rami Mikhail improved from 31,500 to 123,000 today. The smaller bag will be removed from play and he will return to his bigger for Day 2.

Another 43 players punched their ticket for tomorrow’s restart for a combined 124 before Flight F wraps up their day.

We will post full chip counts through Flight E as soon as they are available.

Level 14: 1,500/3,000 with a 400 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 46 of 209

Flight E is all the way down to the last level of the evening with 46 players remaining and another half dozen expected to hit the rail in the last 30 minutes. Tournament staff will pause the clock with ten minutes remain and each table will finish off with a random number of hands.

We are on the lookout for our end-of-flight leader and see who is positioned for a deep run tomorrow.

Event 1 Flight F: Last Chance to Advance

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 25/50

It’s about time to kick off the final flight of the WPTDeepStacks series opening event. It’s already been a stellar start with the $200,000 Guarantee long gone in the rearview mirror and there is a potential doubling before the end of the night.

The first five flights combined to put 634 entries into Event 1 and the $570 buy-in tournament prize pool is already over $300,000. Flight F milestones include 105 entries to beat last year’s attendance and 166 entries to build a $400,000 prize pool.

Both numbers are in play.

Event 1 players sit down to 20,000 starting stacks and levels last 30 minutes a pop today. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 10:30pm with unlimited re-entries options available during that time. They will play out 14 levels this evening and survivors will return tomorrow at noon to play down the title.

They get underway at 6pm and we’ll see just how big they can run up the prize pool.

  • $200,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 20,000 in chips
  • Day 1 levels last 30 minutes; Day 2 levels last 40 minutes
  • Late registration available until start of Level 9
  • Day 1 will end after Level 14 or Tournament Director discretion
  • Players participating in multiple Day 1’s may choose their best stack for start of Day 2

Event 1 Flight E: Last Break

Level 13: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 58 of 209

Harvey Vandeven

Players are returning to their seats after the final break of the day and it looks like they are all chasing Harvey Vandeven. He stacked up to 160,000 heading into the last two levels of the day but there are a dozen stacks within shouting distance.

Event 1 Flight E: Karl Manouchakian Doubles

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 65 of 209

Karl Manouchakian

Karl Manouchakian was in danger of joining his friends on the rail but won a race to stick around. He four-bet shoved for 38,400 total and his opponent snapped off a call.

Manouchakian: 8c8d
Opponent: AdJd

Manouchakian was ahead but needed to fade the suited over cards. The 9c6d3d flop was no sweat and he earned his double after the 3c turn and 3d river.

Event 1 Flight E: Dearly Departed

Paul Stanechewski (left) and Brandon Byars (right)

The field is quickly dropping as the afternoon heads toward the evening hours. We have 75 players remaining and expect to get down around 40 players by the time they bag at the end of Level 14.

Paul Stanechewski and Brandon Byars began their day side-by-side but Byars eliminated Stanechewski before he was knocked out himself.

But we still have a lot of tough local players still in the game including Michael Laake, Wally Maddah, Andra Zachow, Karl Manouchakian, Tony March, and Andrew Pacifico.

Event 1 Flight E: Bill Isbell Running High

$570 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 600/1,200 with a 200 ante
Flight E Players Remaining: 100 of 209

Bill Isbell

Bill Isbell was unhappy with his play yesterday. He returned today intent on improving his outcome and is clearly on the right track. Isbell had 120,000 at the second break and ran that up another 60,000 soon after they returned.

That’s good enough for the late lead with Anh Lu and Rami Mikhail over 100,000 and Andrew Pacifico on the verge of crossing that mark as well.

Event 1 Flight E: Registration Closes on Big Field

Registration closed on the fifth of six Event 1 starting flights with 209 entries. That pushes the combined total up to 634 and a $317,000 prize pool. But it won’t stay there with a full flight to come later this evening at 6pm.
