September 15, 2023

Championship Day 1B: No Gamble Against Wagner Wysotchanski

$1,700 SPS Championship (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8:  600/1,200 with a 1,200 ante
Day 1B Entries:  206

Wagner Wysotchanski

Wagner Wysotchanski was sitting in the small blind with only 4,700 after taking a beat and obviously ready to double or re-enter. Yan Jiang opened the action from under the gun but picked up no callers until it reached Wysotchanski.

“No gamblers?!” Wysotchanski laughed with the table. He put his (mostly ante chips) stacks in the middle, the big blind folded, and Jiang smiled as she called.

Wysotchanski: AdJs
Jian: 8d8h

Wysotchanski was drawing live to double and paired his ace on the As6c4c2sQs board to take the pot. It wasn’t immediately evident whether he’d rather have the 13,400 from the double or a fresh stack from a re-entry.

Championship Day 1B: Whitaker Continues to Lead; Singh Joins

$1,700 SPS Championship (Re-Entry)

Level 7:  500/1,000 with a 1,000 ante
Day 1B Entries:  198

Raminder Singh

The second break ended and we have the same chip leader as the first. Todd Whitaker continues to sit with the biggest stack and his 200,200 is the only one over 200K.

A dangerous player has entered the arena. Raminder Singh has more major Seminole Hard Rock Poker trophies than anyone on the planet (plus a RunGood Poker All-Stars Pro-Am Invitational winner) and he joined the field looking to add a Tampa Championship trophy to his crowded collection.

Championship Day 1B: Another Break

$1,700 SPS Championship (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Day 1B Entries:  184

Flight B is running out the clock on Level 6 which means another break is incoming. They are getting closer to 200 entries and we have a great group of players in the Event Center.

Also in the room, the $250 buy-in Championship satellite is underway with ten seats guaranteed and late registration available until 5:15 pm.

Championship Day 1B: More Friends

Day 1B Entries:  172

Paul Snead

We have another great turnout and they are working the field up near 200 with plenty of time to get there. Combined with big crowd tomorrow, we can start looking toward the $1,000,000 guarantee.

A few more friends in the crowd including former Tampa Poker Classic Champion Paul Snead, Event 1 winner Willie Wiggins, and former WPT Player of the Year Jake Ferro.

Championship Day 1B: Todd Whitaker Leads; Monir Maher Close

Level 4:  300/500 with a 500 ante
Day 1B Entries:  153

Monir Maher

The first break ended and players returned to their seats chasing two big stacks. Todd Whitaker holds the lead in the early stages with 124,500 and Monir Mayer is not far behind with 116,400.

There’s still plenty of time to catch them, or they could spin it up higher and catch Flight A chip leader Jerry Wong.

Don’t forget, if you still want to win your way into the Championship, we have two $250 satellites running today with a combined 30 seats guaranteed. The first starts at 3 pm with ten seats and the second at 6 pm with a whopping 20 seats (at least) up for grabs.
