Amelio Amato Flushes Oak

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  11: Blinds 600/1,200/100 ante

Amerio AmatoThe last woman in this event, Oak Haselton, got her short-stack in with pocket 5s, getting action from Amelio Amato (Sarasota, FL).

Amelio (pictured above) held Ac5c and made a flush on the river to bust Oak.  With her departure, only 16 players remain.

Play will halt for this flight when 14 players remain (14% of the starting field) as it appears they will hit this number before the end of level 14.

Oak Standing Strong

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  10: Blinds 500/1,000/100 ante

Oak HaseltonDuring the previous level, two players took a flop of QcJcTd and Oak Haselton (Tampa, FL) moved in for 16,300.  Her opponent called and Oak showed AhKh for the Broadway straight and the current nuts.

Her opponent tabled Ac9c for the nut-flush draw and useless straight draw.  Oak was at risk of being eliminated, but the last two cards fell 7d6s and she doubled up to about 42k.

Oak is the last woman sitting in this flight of this tournament, so she’s representing for the ladies!

Michael Lavington Leads

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  9: Blinds 400/800/100 ante

Players have returned from a break and play has resumed.

Michael LavingtonMichael Lavington (Bradenton, FL) is the chip leader with about 70k.  His accent gives away the fact that he’s not local.  He’s originally from England, but has lived here for 40 years.  “It never goes away, the accent” he said.

Michael had made a final table in each of the last two Open poker series here at the Hard Rock Tampa, (both were in Seniors events) but is still looking for his first win.

Only 27 players remain from the 97 that started the day.  Average stack is 36k.

Omar Ellison Gets Aces Cracked

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  8: Blinds 300/600/75 ante

Omar EllisonOmar Ellison (Dallas, TX) was up to about 60k, then he got pocket Aces.

A short-stack was all-in holding AJ and Omar’s Aces looked real good.  Then the board ran out K Q 4 T 7 giving his opponent Broadway and the double-up.  Luckily for Omar, getting his Aces cracked only cost him about 3k.

Clint Dunn is Done

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  7: Blinds 250/500/50 ante

Clint DunnClint Dunn (Orlando, FL) is a regular here at the Seminole Hard Rock, but also works as a male entertainer.**

He shoved his short-stack with AhJh but got no takers.  A few hands later, he was all-in again, this time against Joe Hart.  Clint’s AcQh was ahead of Joe’s JhTd, but Joe has been running good.

The board fell out Ks8h2sThKh and Joe paired his Ten to take the pot, adding Clint’s chips to his already big stack.

Clint headed for the door — not sure if he plans to try again in a later flight.

** Apparently someone was yanking my chain as the person pictured above is not Clint Dunn.

Joe Hart Crushing Souls

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  6: Blinds 200/400/50 ante

Joe HartJoe Hart (Ft. Myers, FL) is already up to 60,000 chips.  He claims he “got real lucky…flopping good cards”.  A table-mate said “he keeps flopping the second nuts”.

Joe is a county club manager who plays poker when he has the time.

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level  5: Blinds 150/300/25 ante

Only 57 of those are still in action.  The average stack is 17k.

Players who have busted can try again in Flight 2, coming up at 7pm tonight, or tomorrow in Flights 3 and/or 4.

Food & Beverage Manager (not?) looking for work

$155 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

End of Level  4: Blinds 100/200/25 ante

Time for a break!

Eric Ugarph-001Eric Ugarph, formerly of Flagstaff, AZ, just moved here nine days ago.   Instead of being out looking for work, he’s here playing poker.

“I’ve got some interviews lined up” he says.  Eric is a food and beverage manager for restaurants, bars, country clubs, etc. and does plan to get a job rather than go pro.

But while he’s not working, why not try to make a few bucks playing poker?  He’s already up to ~32k after flopping a flush in a four-way pot.  A player with a straight went all-in.  He also had pocket Aces hold up for more chips.

After the break, registration for this flight will be closed.
