After a long bubble, Stephen Brite opened to 65,000 from the button, Ami Rubin shipped for about 100K from the big blind, and Brite snapped a call.

Brite had pocket aces against Rubin’s pocket eights and they held to burst the bubble with 11 players remaining. The rest of the field is in the money and will return on Sunday for Day 2 at 11 am.

We will post the complete chip counts as soon as they are available.

The slowdown finally hit and players are taking their time with money on the line. They reached 12 players and are currently playing hand-for-hand until one player is eliminated, with two minutes coming off the clock for each hand.

Championship Day 1A: Bo Gray and Daniel Zappulla at the Top

Bo Gray

The last break rolled around with the field very close to the money bubble. Only 13 players remain and 11 will move on to Day 2 but it should really slow down now. The average stack is 50 big blinds and hand-for-hand is coming up.

Bo Gray is the latest to take the top spot, sitting with 334,000 and Daniel Zappulla is not far behind with 290,000.

Curtis King

We found a few climbers late in the day, trying to bag a big stack coming back on Sunday. Stephen Brite is up to 214,000 and Shane Melert is nearby with 210,000 while Curtis King is sitting right on 200K.

They will play out the rest of Level 12 before the next break and then we’ll see where everyone stands.

Flight A is quickly down to the last three tables of the day, a little surprising considering the average stack has hovered between 45 and 50 big blinds. But here we are, 13 knockouts away from the money.

Action should settle now as they begin to see a Championship cash in their future.
