Lucas Graham
Lucas Graham

On a flop of 9h5c3h Richard Clayton shoved and got the call from Lucas Graham, who was in the small blind.

Richard showed 5d3d for two pair.  He was crushed by Lucas’ 9d9c for top set.  The last two were irrelevant as Richard was drawing dead.  He busted out and headed for the exit.

Lucas chipped up to ~80k.

Now all levels are 40 minutes long for the duration of the event.

They’ll play four more levels, then bag up for the night at the end of level 12.

Event 5: Pappas More than Doubles

Level 8: Blinds 300/600/75 ante

John Pappas

Five players put 1,500 in the pot to see the flop fall Js7h6c.   It was checked to the player in seat 8, who bet 3,600.  LaVonne Joyce (button) folded, then John Pappas (sb) jammed for ~13k.

Everyone else got out of the way and seat 8 called, showing QdJd for top pair.  John was behind and in bad shape holding JcTd for the same pair with weak kicker.  He needed a Ten or runner-runner to make a straight.

The turn was the 3h and no help, then the 3-outer Tc came on the river, giving John two pair and the pot.  Thanks to the dead money in the pot, he more than doubled up to ~35k.

Tony Antonious and Joe Gibbons have appeared in the field while Shawn Cunix has disappeared from the field.

Waiting to see if he fires again, since the consensus seems to be that he will (#over):

Nick Russell (Orlando, FL) has emerged as an early chip leader.  He was sitting behind about 140k, then this hand took place:

On the turn with a board of AsTd8cQs, seat 10 bet 7,500.  Nick announced he was all-in.  After some thought, his opponent surrendered and Nick added about 10k more to his stack.

Event 5: Break Time!

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

End of Level 4: Blinds 100/200

Flight F players are taking their first break of the night.  There are 87 entries so far for a total of 486 for the event, more than covering the guarantee.

Late registration and re-entry are available until the start of level 9, about 10:30pm.

EVENT 5: Cunix Helps Guarantee It!

$560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 3: Blinds 75/150
62 Entries

While he can’t guarantee a 300k stack by the end of the night, Shawn Cunix (Columbus, OH)  his helping meet the $200,000 Guaranteed prize pool.

Flight F began just one entry short of the 400 entries needed to reach the guarantee which is being blown out of the water with 450+ and counting.

Cunix skipped the 10 am flight, but is back to fire another bullet as he tries to improve on his top ten stack from earlier in the event.  His play over the last few days has been well documented as Cunix takes advantage of the format that allows players to take their “best stack” into Day 2.

Cunix already bagged 159k (80 bb) and says he would love to get to 300k.
