Clemen Deng won the WPT Trophy along with $158,778 thanks to a three-way chop in a talented high roller field in Event 30 this evening in Tampa. Here’s what he had to say after the win: “It feels great, It’s pretty surreal. We chopped it three ways but it’s pretty crazy. It’s my first $10k ever, besides the Main.”
“I want to be playing with the best in a few years, so I really enjoy this and putting my skills to the test,” said Deng when he was asked why he likes playing in the higher buy-in tournaments.
Deng had a group of friends on his rail near the end of play, and when he was asked about their support tonight he replied, “Yeah, definitely they made it fun. Maybe celebrate with them after this, but I might play in the $5k maybe. But sometimes you want to just chill too.”
“I came in with the chip lead and I just ran really hot initially. I lost a few pots and then just chilled until we were three-handed. I just ran really well, and won the all-ins, and that’s how you do it,” said Deng when he was asked about his journey through the final table today.
And in response to the last question about what he enjoys about coming to play tournaments here in Tampa, Deng said, “I like the people here, just being in the live environment. I don’t play live poker too much, so it’s nice just chatting with all the pros, especially in the $10k, just seeing what they do, and they just all know each other,”
