Winter Poker Open Thursday Updates Conclude

Flight A of the $570 buy-in, $300,000 guaranteed Winter Poker Open Event 1 is a wrap and Flight B is settling in for a long night of play. With that, Thursday’s updates have concluded and complete chip counts through Flight B will be posted Friday morning by 10am.

Action is set to resume tomorrow at 11am with Flight C of the $570. Here’s a look at the complete upcoming schedule:

A late rush in Flight A sends Joseph Orsino home as the overwhelming chip leader in Event 1 of the 2018 Winter Poker Open, a $570 buy-in, $300,000 guaranteed event. Orsino — one of the tournament big stacks at the time — flopped top set versus Al Krux’s pair and flush draw. The pair got a pile of chips in the middle and Orsino emerged victorious. From there he coasted to the end of day and bagged 734,000 for a two-to-one advantage over the next biggest stack.

According to the table, Joseph Orsino raised under the gun with pocket tens and Al Krux defended the big blind with 4c3c. The flop fell 10-high giving Orsino a set. Meanwhile, Krux flopped a pair and a flush draw and the duo got Krux’s stack in the middle.

The turn and river fell blanks and Orsino’s set held. He scooped a massive pot while Krux was eliminated.

Level 14 is underway and it marks the final level of the night. Flight A hit the breaks and no player has been eliminated since break. That means 24 are still in the game and they only need to survive another level of action before making their way to Day 2.

It’s 6pm in Tampa, Florida and Flight B of the Winter Poker Open $570, $300,000 guarantee is freshly off and running. This is the second of six starting flights and it’s taking place alongside the end stages of today’s 11am Flight A.

As they did during the morning, Flight B players begin with 30,000 chips and will log 14, 30-minute levels on Day 1. Registration and re-entry are available until about 11pm with play wrapping at roughly 1:45am.

Play was already a couple minutes into break when Al Krux’s opponent lead an AhQh5cTc board. Krux raised, the opponent shoved and Krux promptly called.

The opponent flopped top two, but it was no good versus Krux’s straight. The river 6c didn’t change a thing and Krux busted an opponent and took a nice pot.

The last break is underway now and it’s Krux who tops the counts alongwith his tablemate Joseph Orsino.

Marie Harrell, Brandon Byars, AJ Kelsall and Rafael Reis all found the felt at various points throughout Flight A. There are currently 24 players remaining including Tom Nguyen and Herbert Woodbery. With the end of day point approaching, play is tightening up a bit, but we expect another table to hit the rail before action concludes.

The field is dwindling and chips are moving across the tables late in Flight A of the Winter Poker Open $570.  One of the biggest beneficiaries of the field’s exodus is Robert Sanchez Silva.

Silva is the biggest of the big stacks claiming over 200,000. There is still a way’s to go with more than three full levels left in the day, but Silva is in good position to bag the top holdings.
