The 2019 Winter Poker Open came flying out of the gates on the first day and put up huge numbers. The first event of the series was a $160 buy-in No Limit Hold’em game that packed the room. After a long day at the tables, Thomas Clements Jr took home the title, the Guitar Trophy, and $15,610 after a five-was deal was struck at the final table.

The tournament drew an incredible 653 entries to blast the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool all the way up to $81,625. A huge number for the size of the buy-in. The last 65 spots were paid and they hit the money bubble not long after the dinner break.

The final table was formed as the clocked clicked later into the evening and the five remaining players decided to split the remaining prize pool and call it a night. Clements Jr earned the biggest share as the chip leader with Herbert Woodbery, Mitchell King, Karl Manouchakian, and Ryan Basile part of the deal.

It was a fantastic start to the series and a great omen for the next 11 days.

Registration closed on the first flight of Winter Poker Open Event 2 and it drew 74 entries. A good start for the first of six flights. They will continue playing through Level 14 or if the field reaches eight players. Those with chips at that time will have a seat for Day 2 on Sunday at 11 am.

Event 1 of the Winter Poker Open was a massive start to the series and that is a one-day tournament. Now it is time to kick off the first big multi-day tournament on the schedule. Event 2 is a $360 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and six starting flights between now and Saturday.

Players will start with 20,000 stacks and the first 24 levels will last 30 minutes each, increasing to 40 minutes from level 25 forward. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at ~10:45 pm with unlimited re-entries available. Flight A will come to an end after Level 14 and those with ships will return on Sunday at 11 am for Day 2.

Cards go in the air at 6 pm and we look forward to continuing the big day.

The last 65 spots will be paid with $282 going for a min-cash and $15,610 set aside for the winner along with the WPO Guitar Trophy.
