Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member, Mike Laake

Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Mike Laake used every second of late registration  yesterday getting in the action just as dinner break expired. He hung around for a couple levels and chipped up nicely before his AxKx busted to an opponent’s QxQx.

With Flight B behind him, Flight C is proving drastically different. Laake was in his seat in Level 1 and has steadily climbed over the six hours of the day. He currently sits on a stack of about 90,000.

Josh Wallace

WPTDeepStacks-Grey Eagle Main Event champion Josh Wallace was in a heads-up pot out of position. The flop was 9s8c7h and Wallace checked. The player on the button bet 17,000. Wallace thought for a minute before the pair got the last of the button’s stack in the middle.

Button: JcTd
Wallace: 7s7d

The button flopped the nuts while Wallace owned a set. He had outs, but was slim after after the Qc fell on the turn. Next up was the river, which hit hard coming the 7c giving Wallace quads. The button stood silent while Wallace grew his stack to over 100,000.

Brian Reinert fired just one entry in yesterday’s Flight B before a late bustout after the dinner break. Reintert is back at in today’s Flight C playing a different game.

He busted early in the day and promptly re-entered, sitting down to 25,000 starting chips. It’s been a bumpy second bullet as he was recently spotted with about 10,000 chips.

Nathan Papp

Nathan Papp has put a hurt on the Seminole Immokalee series this year winning the property’s WPTDeepStacks Main Event and finishing runner-up in the Seminole Immokalee Poker Challenge. In addition to six figures worth of earnings, Papp took a stranglehold on the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race. Papp owns 185 points — 60 clear of second place David Bradshaw, Jr. — with just two points eligible events remaining (WPTDeepStacks-Tampa and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood in August).

He’s in the field here in Flight C looking to add even more points to his impressive total.

Rex Clinkscales

Rex Clinkscales is one of a number of pros who left Las Vegas, hopped a plane and headed east for the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa series. His appearance in the Main Event marks his first time in the property’s new, state-of-the-art poker room.

Clinkscales couldn’t find a bag during yesterday’s Flight B, but Flight C is shaping up to be a different story. On a Qc6d3h9hAh board, he was heads up and first to act. Clinkscales’ opponent held about 15,000 chips and Clinkscales put him at risk. The opponent called off and Clinkscales flipped over Qh8h for a flush. The opponent turned over KxQx and hit the rail.

That pot grew Clinkscales to about 70,000 chips and he’s nearly tripled up in the first three hours of the day.
