Martin Markov

Fresh off a $40,000 score in Hollywood, Martin Markov is in search of another deep run and final table appearance here in Tampa. He recently played a big pot in position against Jordan Chizick that saw Markov make a tough call.

The board was Kc6c3hQh6s. Chizick checked. Markov bet 11,500. Chizick raised, making it 41,700 to go. Markov thought for a couple minutes, then reached into his stack for a call.

Level 10: 400/800/100
Flight E Players Remaining: 82/214

Julio Marrero

Julio Marrero shares a table with the aforementioned Nick Costarelis and has played some big pots as of late. Marrero previously held the chip lead with a stack of nearly 200,000. He’s back to reality over the last half hour or so surrendering nearly half that and currently sits at just over 100,000.

First, he was second best in a pot holding 5xXx against AxXx on an Ax5xXx5xAx board. A few hands later he and a lone opponent got 7,500 in preflop. The flop fell ace high and they got his opponent’s last 28,000 in — Marrero held AxTx while the opponent held AxQx. Marrero never improved.

Nick Costarelis

Nick Costarelis owns one of the biggest stacks in the room following break. Late in Level 8, he played a monster pot holding 9s9d on a 9c9h4s5hJh board. There was big action on the river and Costarelis’ quads left his opponent speechless. Costarlis raked a pile and has played it cool since retaining his big stack well in to Level 9.

Herbert Woodbery

Herbert Woodbery isn’t one to miss a major series at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa. In fact, he rarely misses a major series at Seminole property. He’s in the Flight E field and chipped up slightly over the first five levels claiming just about 30,000 late in Level 6.

Woodbery, local to the area, claims two Seminole Championship final tables. Most notably, he scored a tournament W in the Seminole Immokalee Poker Challenge earning him $51,000. A few months before that, he chopped the Coco Poker Showdown pocketing $20,380. He went on to finish seventh in that season’ Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year race.

It’s been slower in the 2016/17 season, but Woodbery hopes to change that with some solid player during the WPTDeepStacks-Tampa.
