Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah has had a tough go of it early. He kicked off the Seniors Classic Rockers event running his flopped set into the Royal Flush of Shari Amato.
Maddah had a stack and was still fighting, but met some more misfortune a few hands later. Maddah was in the small blind eyeing a raise from the button. He three-bet, the button moved all-in and he called.

Maddah was feeling good after the flop, but the button spiked a set on the turn for a come-from-behind win. Maddah acknowledged her win with a, “Nice hand” and shipped the double her way.
Despite the cold streak, the ambassador is still alive in the event.

With the first break wrapped, it appears to be Brenda Worley who sits atop the counts. Worley cruised through the first four levels of play and quadrupled up her starting stack. With holding of 81,000, she’s in great shape to make a run here in the Classic Rockers event.
$180 Seniors Classic Rockers 50+ (Re-Entry) Level 4: 100/200 with a 25 ante Entries: 114
The field is steadily growing since cards went in the air nearly two hours ago. There has been a constant uptick in the four levels since and the entry count crossed the triple-digit threshold a few minutes ago. It’s a ways off from last year’s final tally, but late registration and re-entry are available until 3:30pm.
In addition to their share of the $15,000 guaranteed prize pool, the winner of the Seniors Classic Rockers event goes home with Seminole Hard Rock Tampa’s token guitar trophy.
The action was unclear, but there was an all-in and call on a board of . Tampa regular Marvin Karlins was the one who did the calling, announcing, “Call. Flush.” flipping over . An obvious mis-read of his holdings, the table got a good chuckle out of the hand. Karlins’ actual hand, which was a pair of eights, was second best to the opponents’ pair of nines . Thankfully for Karlins, he had the all-in bet well covered.
“It is the Seniors Event,” tablemate Tony March laughed.
Always a good sport, Karlins was a class act in defeat.
“I was over here thinking I had the nuts,” Karlins joked. “If you’re going to make a mistake, make a big mistake.”
While the table shared a quick laugh at Karlins’ expense, it would be remiss to not bring to light his long list of successes. Karlins owns nearly $220,000 in career earnings coming over the course of 33 cashes. His crowning poker achievement came in November of last year when he finished fourth in a $5,000 televised WPT event in northern Florida earning nearly $120,000.
The clock strikes 11am and it’s time for the Seniors “Classic Rockers” Event. Officially Event 11 on the Winter Poker Open schedule, the Seniors Event drew a monster field of 210 entries last year seeing Bo Bloom emerge victorious for the tournament’s $8,066 top prize.
