An obvious mis-read of his holdings, the table got a good chuckle out of the hand. Karlins’ actual hand, which was a pair of eights, was second best to the opponents’ pair of nines . Thankfully for Karlins, he had the all-in bet well covered.
“It is the Seniors Event,” tablemate Tony March laughed.
Always a good sport, Karlins was a class act in defeat.
“I was over here thinking I had the nuts,” Karlins joked. “If you’re going to make a mistake, make a big mistake.”
While the table shared a quick laugh at Karlins’ expense, it would be remiss to not bring to light his long list of successes. Karlins owns nearly $220,000 in career earnings coming over the course of 33 cashes. His crowning poker achievement came in November of last year when he finished fourth in a $5,000 televised WPT event in northern Florida earning nearly $120,000.
