Steve SandovalSteve Stays with Read

On a board of A-A-9-K, Steve Sandoval (Tampa) bets 5k and his opponent raises 10k on top.

“Did we really both flop a full house,” ponders Sandoval, who is virtually all in if he commits any more chips to the pot. “Did you turn the blade on me, this is brutal.”

After replaying the action, Sandoval says he’s all in and gets a call.

Sandoval: T-9-9-6 (9s full of Aces)
Opponent: A-T-8-4 (trip Aces)

The river is a blank and Sandoval gets the double-up to take his stack to 50k (125 bb).

“I figured I was good,” says Sandoval to the player to his right, “but she had a lot of chips and I was confused.”

46 players remain with an average stack of 18k (45 bb); Sandavol’s opponent busts a few hands later after having close to 60k.

Michael MasellaMasella Multi Tabling Events 1 & 2

Just coming back from break, Michael Masella (Daytona Beach) says, “the reasons we hate this game, are the reasons we love it so much.”

Case in point is a hand that Masella, “shouldn’t have been in,” but he had two pairs and “couldn’t fold.”

Masella ran his stack to 50k, but gave some back before the break and is now at 36k.

The chip leaders are currently in the 45k-50k range and include Alex Quinones (Riverview) and Core Dinic (Louisville, KY).

Not only is Mesella looking for a deep run in PLO, but he’s one of the returning players in Event 1 with an average stack of 91k. “I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be fun,” he says.

With registration closed, the cage is verifying the total entries and the prize pool will be available shortly as this one-day tournament will wrap-up after midnight.
