Even with the quickly climbing blinds, the final table played five-handed for more than two levels before something big happened.

And it was two players catching two top hands that got things moving. John Pishos opened to 150,000 and Wally Maddah moved all-in over the top. They didn’t even try to count the stacks when Pishos quickly called with AcKd.

Maddah needed to win the race with JdJc to stay in the game but Pishos caught the Ks6d5c flop to take the lead. The board completed 8c and 9c to give Pishos the big hand and send the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador out in 5th place.

Jahn: QhQd
Krux: AcQc
Bloom: Ad7c

The runout came Ts8h7d8c3d and Jahn’s queens held. He tripled up while Krux busted 4th earning $2,218.

The deep run is just the most recent in a long string of successes for Krux. He is a three-time WSOP Main Event final tablist, most notably finishing 6th in 2004. Additionally, he owns a gold bracelet which he won in a $1,500 pot-limit hold’em event in 1996.

Chris Kobil thought he might ladder up a spot after Jay Giles lost a hand to leave him with just 4,000. Giles managed a quadruple-up and Kobil took a shot soon after for his final 50,000.

He picked up four other callers and the five of them saw the AdJc5h flop before Griffin Arnold moved all-in. The three other players let it go and Arnold tabled Aces up As5c. Kobil needed a lot help with his middle pair KhJs and had four outs after the Ks turn. He couldn’t boat up on the 4s river and was gone in 9th place.
