Wally Maddah

With only 65K sitting under the gun, Wally Maddah shipped all in without looking at his cards. He was about to pay 50K in blinds and antes the next hand so he made the move.

John Gordon thought for a second and called from the cutoff.

“I’ll give you action,” Gordon said.

It folded to Alan Thomas in the big blind and he moved all in for 290,000 to get a reluctant folded from Gordon.

Thomas flipped his hand up and showed Ah5h. Maddah first turned over the 5d, not a good start. The next card was 3c and he needed a lot of help.

The flop came Jd7c6d to give Maddah a gutshot straight draw and it filled on the 4s turn. The Js river finished the board and Maddah tripled up with a seven-high straight.

Wally Maddah – 235,000 (9 bb)
Alan Thomas – 200,000 (8 bb)
