Level 13: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 82 of 275

Trevor Hurst

Action folded around to Trevor Hurst in the small blind and he accidentally raised. He tossed out 2,500 when he meant to only call and was forced to min-raise to 3,200. The big blind, described by Rex Clinkscales as “the tightest player at the table”, moved all in for 32,300

“Screw it,” Hurst said. “I call.”

Hurst: 9h6h
Big Blind: AdKc

Hurst was on the verge of sending half of his stack to his neighbor but he paired the Qd6c4s flop to get a yell from the table. The 8c turn and 3h river finished the board and Hurst sent the big blind out while taking some needles from the rest of the table.

Jebhar Patterson

Action is back underway and they immediately dropped down to nine tables upon their return.

Wayne Daley continues to lead the way with 220,600 and the closest stack to him appears to be Jebhar Patterson with 175,000.

They have three more levels and two more hours to run up a stack and get ready for Day 2.

$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 600/1,200 with a 200 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 91 of 275

Flight C players are taking their final break of the day with 91 remaining and nearly half of them will hit the rail in the last two hours.

It will be a busy time as they play down through Level 15 and try to join to 66 players already set for Day 2.

Main Event Day 1B: Steel Wheel for Wayne Daley Sends Haim Toorgeman Out

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 12: 600/1,200 with a 200 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 102 of 275

Haim Toorgeman

With the board reading Th5s2sJh, Wayne Daley bet 18,000 and Haim Toorgeman raised to 50,000 from middle position. Daley called, the river came 3s, and Daley announced: “all in”.

Toorgeman appeared to be unhappy, called off for his last 28,000 and Daley immediately said: “straight flush.”

Daley: As4s
Toorgeman: JdTc

Daley was good with the spade steel wheel (straight flush to the five) and Toorgeman was eliminated with his top two.

Wayne Dayley – 215,000
Haim Toorgeman – Eliminated

Wayne Daley

Main Event Day 1C: Trey Harrell Doubles Through Rex Clinkscales

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 11: 500/1,000 with a 100 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 118 of 275

Trey Harrell (left) and Rex Clinkscales (right)

Action folded to Trey Harrell in the hijack and he moved all in for 24,000. Rex Clinkscales three-bet shoved his own stack from the cutoff to get folds from the button and blinds.

Harrell: 7h7s
Clinkscales: 6c6s

Harrell was dominating for the double and the Td4s4hQsAs board kept him in the game.

Trey Harrell – 24,000
Rex Clinkscales – 20,5000

Main Event Day 1C: Marvin Karlins Eliminated by David Nathaniel

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 138 of 275

Marvin “Duckman” Karlins

On the second hand after dinner break, Marvin “Duckman” Karlins open-shoved for 9,200 from middle position. The button opponent reshipped from the button for 23,200 and David Nathaniel snapped them both off in a hurry from the big blind.

Karlins: AhJd
Button: KhQh
Nathaniel: AdAc

Not a bad hand in the big blind with two all-ins in front. The board ran Qc8c3h5sJs to pair both Karlins and the button but neither was big enough to crack Nathaniel’s aces.

David Nathaniel – 120,000

Main Event Day 1B: Rodney Rodrigue Leads After Dinner

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event
$300,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 10: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight C Players Remaining: 148 of 275

Rodney Rodrigue

We took a walk among the tables while the players were on their dinner break and found a big stack sitting in the back of the room.

Rodney Rodrigue must have had himself a nice run over the first nine levels because he returned to the chip lead with 176,000. That would be a better-than-average Day 2 stack if he only manages to hover at that mark but he’ll be trying to push it higher
