WPO Day 10: More than $300K Up for Grabs Tomorrow

We have now completed ten days of the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Winter Poker Open and Day 11 will award two more guitar trophies.

Today we ran the last two flights of the $570 buy-in/$200,000 Guarantee Event 7 and they surpassed the guarantee early in the day. It was gone before the first hour was through and they ran it up over $300,000 before the final flight closed registration.

All told, Event 7 drew 624 entrants to create a prize pool worth $310,350 with the winner set to take home nearly $75,000 along with the guitar trophy and a seat in the WPO Championship.

Tampa regular Onder Ekinci went from short stack to chip leader during the last level in the early flight to bag the biggest stack in Flight E while Seminole Hard Rock Player of the Year David Prociak (pictured) was the big bag in Flight C.

Other big names returning tomorrow for Day 2 are John Dolan, Rafael Reis, John Holley, David Tuthill, John Christian Templeton, Carlos Loving, and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah.

Event 7 has 113 players returning for Day 2 on Sunday at noon with 63 players making the money.

For those who didn’t make Day 2 or bust out early from Event 7, we have a $150 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Turbo event kicking off at 2pm with a $15,000 guaranteed prize pool. It will move along at a brisk pace and award another guitar trophy along with a $1,650 WPO Championship seat.

Sunday will be a busy day in the poker room with some big money on the line.

Event 7 Flight F: Prociak Leads Final Flight

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
End of Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 24 of 125

David Prociak

Play has come to an end in the final opening flight of Event 7. Only 24 advanced from this evening’s run to bring the final Day 2 count to 113 and more than half of them will make the money.

David Prociak was indeed the end-of-flight leader and put a very nice 260,000 away for tomorrow, good enough for a fourth place returning stack.

They’ll return tomorrow at noon for the restart. Complete chips counts and seat assignments will be posted when they are available.

Event 7 Flight F: Minaya Eliminated Nhoung

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 25 of 125

Manny Minaya

As the clock is ticking down, players are taking bigger shots trying to run up a stack. Len Nhoung was under a starting stack when she three-bet shoved with AdQh and Manny Minaya called with QdQs.

Nhoung was in trouble and drawing dead when Minaya turned the case queen.

On Table 44, it looks like reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year David Prociak is in position to end the evening with the biggest stack. He quietly ran his stack up to 250,000 in the last two levels and will probably have the biggest bag from the night.

Event 7 Flight F: Valuetown for Manjura

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 27 of 125

Len Nhoung (left) and Rob Manjura (right)

Rob Manjura continues to build his stack higher and he ran a hand against Pot Limit Omaha final table member Len Nhoung as Level 13 was coming to an end.

Nhoung limped before the 6c5s2h flop and she was heads up with Manjura, calling bets after the 9h turn and 9c river. After the final bet was called, Manjura tabled Ax6x to take another pot and move over 165,000. Nhoung needs to make a move with less than 30,000 and 30 minutes remaining in the day.

Event 7 Flight F: Manjura Leads Final Break

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
End of Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 35 of 125

Flight F players are on their last break of the day with 35 remaining and it looks like the chip lead has changed again.

While we were preparing the previous post, Rob Manjura chipped up the table reports that it was Manjura’s set besting aces to put him up to 147,000.

Event 7 Flight F: Ramirez Climbing; Manjura Takes from Byars

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 39 of 125

Daniel Ramirez

Four tables remain in Flight F with three more levels to play. Daniel Ramirez continues to climb the leaderboard and is among the top stacks in the room with 145,000.

At our front table, Brandon Byars and Event 1 winner Rob Manjura were battling it out after Byars called a flop bet with the board reading 5d4h2h. Manjura moved all-in for 31,900 after the 5s turn and Byars began his deep thoughts.

After cutting out the calling chips, he talked it through with/at Manjura before eventually folding his big slick face up. Manjura was kind enough to show  pocket nines and Byars saved himself some chips. Both are in no danger at the moment with Byars holding 104,000 and Manjura 82,000.

Event 7 Flight F: Pluskat Leads Tough Field

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 11: 600/1,200 with a 200 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 45 of 125

Aric Pluskat

Flight F is down to only five tables remaining with some tough players still around. Brandon Byars, Rob Manjura, Patrick Eskandar, Manny Minaya, and Seminole Hard Rock team member John Racener have chips in the game but everyone is chasing Aric Pluskat.

The former WSOP Circuit runner-up has pushed his stack over 150,000 with a few more hours left in the day. Daniel Ramirez is sitting at his table and his 130,000 stack is nothing to dismiss either.

Event 7: Payout Information with +$74K to the Winner

$570 Deep Stack NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 10: 500/1,000 with a 100 ante
Flight F Players Remaining: 60 of 125

The prize pool and payout information was released with Event 7 drawing 624 entries to create a prize pool worth $310,350. The last 63 players will take home some money with a min-cash worth $1,055 and the winner earning $74,513 plus a 2016 Winter Poker Open Championship seat.
