Event 7: Osorio Eliminated in 45th Place by Kopp

According to the table, David Prociak raised to 25,000 and William Kopp three-bet to 55,000. Claudemier Osorio called while Prociak got out of the way.

Kopp and Osorio checked a king-high flop. The turn brought another king and Osorio ended up getting the last of his stack in following some back-and-forth action.

Osorio didn’t improve on the river and he was eliminated in 45th place. Kopp, meanwhile, kept up his Day 2 winnings ways.

Event 7: Maroun Akiki Eliminated on the Bubble by Alex Ivan

On the second round of hand-for-hand play, Tampa regular Maroun Akiki met his fate at the hands of fellow regular Alex Ivan.

Akiki was on the button with 20,000 in the middle and action was on Ivan in the big blind. Ivan contemplated his options before shoving all-in for 181,000. It was back on Akiki and he did some contemplating of his own. It took a few moments of thought, but he called. At the time, it was unclear who was at risk.

The flop nailed Ivan, falling Ad7c4h. The turn 2d and river 6c didn’t change a thing and Ivan earned the pot. Akiki’s stack was counted down to 180,000 — Ivan had him covered by a lone orange 1,000 chip. Akiki was eliminated 64th sending the final 63 into the money.

There was lots of action in the first levels and Steve Pellingra and William Kopp seem to have come out on the winning end of it. Pellingra sits on 575,000 and Kopp owns 560,000.

In a heads-up pot between an early-position player and Wally Maddah in late position, the flop was As6d2s. The player in early position bet 8,000 and Maddah raised to 16,000. The early position player called.

The 9d was burned and turned on the turn. The player in early position checked and Maddah jammed for just about 30,000. The early-position player called and the hands were tabled.

From a massive starting field of 624 entries down to 113, Day 2 of the Winter Poker Open $570 is underway. Those still in have fought through a large percentage of their competitors and are still in the hunt for one of the top 63 in-the-money payout spots. Up for grabs is a prize pool that topped its lofty guarantee before settling in at $310,350.

Jerry Silva

Jerry Silva holds a massive lead running into 473,000 chips by the time Flight B expired Thursday. The next closes stack — which belongs to Flight E’s Onder Ekinci — totals 321,500.

In the days following Silva’s unlikely run, a slew of notables joined him with a bag including reigning Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year, David Prociak, Rafael Reis, John Holley, Tom Nguyen, Manny Minaya, Karl Manouchakian, Brandon Byars and others. Of these, Prociak, Reis and Holley begin the restart in the top 10.
