Angel Vu - 2014 SHRP POY
Angel Vu – 2014 SHRP POY

Making her Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Spring Deep Stack Series debut today is Angel Vu.  She’s the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year.

One of the events that propelled her to the top of that leaderboard was when she won the $500 Deep Stack NLH event here in Tampa last Summer, cashing for over $69,000.   Read her interview here.

She went on to win a $1k SixMax NLH event during the Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open last November for over $30,000.  Her career earnings are closing in on a quarter-million dollars.  Not bad for a Vietnamese immigrant who learned the game while dealing poker!

Konstantinos Pantaridis
Konstantinos Pantaridis

Konstantinos Pantaridis is a fixture on the felt here at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.  He managed to survive a recent all-in encounter when he shoved with 5c3c and ran into pocket Jacks.  He said “sixty-forty” when he saw his opponent’s cards.

Then the flop came 6 4 x giving him an open-ender, followed by a 7 on the turn for the straight, and he said, “Oh, I meant 100%”.

He doubled his short stack on that hand, but it did not last long and he busted out before the break.

Players are on their last break and they’ll return for two final levels before bagging up.

Event 5: Bricks for Woodbery

Flight E Players Remaining:  59
Average Stack:  78,300 (39 big blinds)

Just after the blinds went up, Herbert Woodbery was all-in holding QdTd on a flop of K J x.  His open-ended straight draw was up against a player holding K6 for top pair.  The last two were bricks and Herbert busted out.

There’s one more starting flight for this event coming up at 6pm so Herbert will still be able to try again, if he wants to.

Registration for the final flight will be open until the start of level 9 (about 10:30pm.)

Hector Vazquez
Hector Vazquez

On the very last hand of play, Hector Vazquez was all-in on the turn with the board showing 6 6 4 Q.  Harvey Vandeven had him covered and made the call.

Hector had Ah6h for trip sixes and he was way ahead of Harvey’s AdQc (two pair).

Then another Queen hit the river, giving Harvey a bigger boat with Queens-full, and sinking Hector’s sixes-full.  Hector finished 2nd in event 1 a few days ago.  He’s going to have to fire another bullet in this event if he wants to repeat.

That pot put Harvey’s stack at 306,000 and he’s the chip leader for Flight C.  Full chip counts coming shortly.
