Despite sharing the felt with Jim Brinkley, Peter Walsworth, and John Holley, Phil Wasserman (Sarasota, FL) is the chip leader with about 120k.

In a recent hand, seat 4 opened for 2,550, Phil called, than John shoved for 20,675 more.  Both opponents folded and John collected the dead money.

“Would I have had 30k more if I had called?” Phil asked John.  “Depends on the flop,” he replied.

Friends of Seminole Hard Rock Tampa are in the field, including Winter Poker Open Ladies Champion Dani Mae (St. Petersburg, FL), who earned her seat into this event as part of her first place prize.

Well known tournament player Sean Cunix (Columbus, OH) is also in the field. Last month Cunix finished in third place at the Hollywood Championship event for ~$750,000 to push his career earnings past $2 million.

Other familiar faces included Robert Melo and Frank Gomez.

After easily reaching the first two guarantees of the Tampa Winter Poker Open, players look to go three-for-three with the start of the $200,000 Guarantee.

This is the first deep stack of the series; players start with 25k in chips while playing 30 minute levels to start.

Once registration and re-entry closes (approximately 3:30 pm), levels increase to 40 minutes.

This event features six flights over three days.
