Jeffrey Morzella

On the last hand of the night, John Holley got all-in from the button holding Js7s against Jeff Morzella in the big blind, who had pocket 5s.  The board ran Q 4 4 A 3 and John was busted.  Jeff chipped up to 170,500, good to TIE for the end of flight chip lead.

32 players survived to bag up chips for an average stack of 90k.  Jeff Morzella and Garrett Topping both bagged 170,500, so they tied for the lead in this flight, but are 15th overall heading into Day 2.

Day 2 begins at 12 noon Thursday, just under 10 hours from now.

Event 4: Down to 42

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 13:  Blinds 1,200/2,400/400 ante

Players are back from their last break and there are only 42 left.  Average stack is almost 69,000.

They’ll play the rest of this level and one more, then bag up for the night.

Though the first six flights, 94 players have advanced to Day 2, which begins at 12 noon Thursday (less than 11 hours from now).

Event 4: Brinkley on/over the Brink

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

End of Level 12:  Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

Jim Brinkley

Jim Brinkley, our regular ‘Wednesday Night Chopper’ just arrived around the start of level 11.  He was already registered and his chips were being blinded off.

Shortly after he got here and started playing, he got all-in pre-flop utg holding AcKc with action from the big blind who held Ah8h.

The board came 7c6s2c5h4c giving Jim a flush and much-needed double-up to about 16k.

Then before we got this posted, Jim shoved on a flop of 8h6s5s only to have the player on his left re-shove for more.  Jim’s Jh8s was crushed by AsAc.  The last two were 3dTs and Jim was busted.

Event 4: Diamonds Are a Holley’s Best Friend

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 12:  Blinds 1k/2k/300 ante

A short-stack was all-in pre-flop and called by John Holley.  When they tabled their hands, they were all diamonds:

Shortie:  Td9d
John: Ad3d

Then the dealer produced the flop, which was also all diamonds: 8d7d4d.  The shortie picked up a couple of outs with an open-ended straight-flush draw, but John had flopped the nut flush, taking away his pair and straight outs.

The Qd came on the turn, which was just more flash that meant nothing.  The river was the 5h and no help to the short-stacked player, who was busted.

Event 4: New Chip Leader

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 11:  Blinds 800/1,600/300 ante

Now that registration has closed, the field is collapsing rapidly.  Fewer than 70 players are still in action.

Clademir Osorio

Clademir Osorio (Brazil via Orlando) has climbed into the chip lead with 135k.

Garrett Topping is up to about 100k and possibly second in chips.

Event 4: It’s a Numbers Game

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 10:  Blinds 600/1,200/200 ante

The entry count for this flight is 241, unofficially, which brings the overall total to 1,069.  Once the numbers are verified, the prize pool, estimated at $128,280, will be posted.

Adam 'megalodon' Santos
Adam ‘megalodon’ Santos

Adam Santos is doing better on his latest and last entry.  He doubled up with pocket Aces against pocket Queens when the flop came A 2 2.  He’s up to 47k.

Event 4: Repeat Business

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 9:  Blinds 500/1,000/100 ante

Players are back from break and registration is closed for this flight and for this event.

Before the break:

Tim Clermont has busted out and re-entered.  Tim was the start of Day 2 chip leader in Event 1 and ended up going out in 22nd place for $1,214.

Adam ‘megalodon’ Santos got his last ~5,500 in holding KhTs and was dominated by KcQd.  The board came AsQs3c2hAh and Adam busted out of this flight for the second (or third or fourth) time.  He went straight to the window and re-entered.   He claims to have entered 24 times, but I believe he is engaging in hyperbole.

Event 4: Early Chip Leader

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 8:  Blinds 400/800/75 ante

This is the last level to register and re-enter.  The entry count has climbed to 222 and will go higher still.

Ray Gallagher
Ray Gallagher

It is still early to be looking at stacks, but Ray Gallagher (New Port Richey, FL) has taken an early lead with ~65k.

Jeff Trudeau is close behind with ~60k.
