Players went on their first break of the day with 165 entrants showing on thetournament information board. They continue to build on the $15,000 guaranteed prizepool and we’ll know the final tally in a few hours.
John Duhig was hanging around his table during the first break, he was sitting with a big stack and all the quarter chips waiting for a color up. His 120,000 stack is good enough for the top spot and he’s followed closely by Ok Haselton with 93,000.
Local favorite Cheri Beatty also kicked off her Turbo properly. She doubled up her second hand after taking a seat and went on break with 55,000.

John Vale of Plant City, Fla. burst onto the tournament poker scene in a big way late this summer winning Casino Champion honors during a WSOP Circuit event across the way in South Florida. Vale recorded five, top-nine finishes during the 12-day series complementing a handful of cashes he’d already claimed here in Tampa and at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
With those cashes behind him, Vale hopes to add to his resume here on the Gulf side.

Only one Winter Poker Open champion has been crowned so far and it was Jean Miccio walking away with the Ladies Event title two days ago.
Miccio is back in action today and taking a shot at her second title of the series in the Turbo tournament. She picked up a $600 certificate to Rock Spa with her title and she said she’s already put it to use to relax before getting in the game.
Friday wasn’t Miccio’s first taste of success in a Ladies Event, she went deep in this summer’s WSOP Ladies Championship with a 19th place finish.

We expected action to be quick in the Turbo event but we’re also seeing players get in the game at a fine pace as well.
The tournament hit its $15,000 guarantee midway through the second level and showing no slowing in the first hour. The clock shows 130 entrants at the start of Level 3 with several players already firing their second bullet.
We have a few in their second game of the day after being sent out of Event 1. Sam Medina began that Day 2 with less than an average stack and was unable to run it up. Jeremy Costa was a one-time leader of Event 1 but couldn’t make it further than a min-cash.
Both are in the Turbo field and looking to get further this time around.

The next new event on the 2015 Winter Poker Open is ready to go and set for some fast-paced poker on a Sunday afternoon. Event 3 is a $150 buy-in tournament with a turbo structure, no one needs to worry about a late evening for this one.
The 15-minute levels will be balanced by the deep 25,000 starting stacks but things will still move quickly. The tournament also features a $15,000 guaranteed prizepool to put some nice money on the line.
Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 13 at 5:30pm and they will play down to a champion this evening.
Players are taking their seats and cards will soon be flying.

Retired painting contractor and former pro bowler Wayne Wadulak (Port Richey, FL) came back from being all-in as the short stack to having the most chips of the final three players and commanding the largest share of a three-way chop. Wadulak has been playing poker (mostly tournaments) professionally for about 3 years and has definitely seen some results. Today’s Turbo NLH event netted him $3,346 and his first official ‘win’ here at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.
The other two players involved in the chop took equal shares, so position was determined by their chip counts. Josh Rose finished 2nd for $2,896 and Tony March took 3rd and $2,896. This was March’s second cash of the day. He made Day 2 of Event 1 and finished that event in 32nd place ($980) before jumping into this Turbo, which wrapped up in under 9 hours while Event 1 was still going on. March says this is his 10th straight tournament cash.
The $15,000 guarantee on this event was covered with 136 entrants, the final 18 of which earned a cut of the total $16,320 prize pool.
Wally Maddah, who finished 7th, also booked his second cash in one day. He finished 63rd in Event 1 before signing up for this event and making the final table.
