A pair of final tablists in yesterday’s events — Tom Nguyen (Event 1) and Bruce Snell, Sr. (Event 2) — are right back at today here at the Seminole Hard Rock. Both players bubbled their respective tournament’s chops, so to speak.

First, Nguyen busted 7th in Event 1 for $12,739 only to see the final six agree to an even chop worth $36,620. Snell, meanwhile, exited the $250 Turbo 5th for $1,988 while the final four negotiated a chop that saw Paul Neessen earn $6,001 as well as a $1,100 Main Event seat.

Both players were undeterred by their close calls and they’re right back on the horse in Event 3. With their deep runs, they earned valuable points toward the WPTDeepStacks Series Champion race and are in the thick of it with three points-eligible tournaments still undecided.

Tampa, Fla. (December 6, 2015) — The third event of the 2015 Winter Open Poker lived up to its Turbo name and we had a new champion in record time. The $150 buy-in Turbo No Limit Hold’em tournament took less than eight hours to complete and Lithia, FL resident John Duhig walked away the winner.

Event 2 had a $15,000 guaranteed prize pool and it was quickly surpassed before the first break. There were 199 entered when registration was closed at the start of Level 13 and they were off to the races. With 15-minute levels, action was brisk and they were in the money six hours after the start.

The tournament paid out the last 18 players but Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah missed out on his second cash of the day after his Event 1 min-cash earlier.

Local regulars Carlos Loving and Eric Rivkin slid into the money but were unable to make the final table. Cynthia Young’s elimination set the stage for the final table ten with Ricky Young holding the chip lead. But it was anyone’s game with the average stack at 12 big blinds.

There was a quick succession of eliminations with the climbing blinds and most major pots played out with preflop action. Players quickly dropped until regular PLO cash game player Tam Nguyen was eliminated in 3rd place.

Dallas Henderson and Duhig took very little time to negotiate the terms of a deal to divide the remaining prize pool. Duhig held the lead and picked up the added $1,650 Winter Poker Open Championship seat while Henderson picked up a $500 bonus in the deal.

It was a fun, fast tournament and players appreciated a good time in the poker room on a Sunday afternoon.

Event 3 final results:

1st: John Duhig – $4,668 + $1,650 WPO Championship seat*
2nd: Dallas Henderson – $5,668*
3rd: Tam Nguyen – $2,112
4th: Ricky Young – $1,778
5th: Rich Bowings – $1,334
6th: Anthony Pellegrini – $1,112
7th: Terry Hancock – $889
8th: Brandon Byars – $667
9th: Garrett Smith – $500
10th: Sourinay Chandara – $445
11th: Cynthia Butler – $445
12th: Oscar Zeledon – $445
13th: Remedios Patalinghug – $389
14th: Harry Rieger – $389
15th: Eric Rivkin – $389
16th: Douglas Decker – $333
17th: Myong Han – $333

Event 3: Tam Nguyen – 3rd Place ($2,112)

$150 Deep Stack Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 27: 60,000/120,000/20,000 Ante

Tam Nguyen
Tam Nguyen

Tam Nguyen is a regular in our PLO cash games in the poker room and now has her deepest tournament run. She laddered up throughout the final table, riding a short stack until it caught up with her.

She moved all-in and got a quick call from Dallas Henderson then saw she was in trouble with Qd9h against Ks9d. The dealer couldn’t put out a save as the board ran 9c6c6dJs8c to send the popular player out in 3rd place.

Henderson and John Duhig quickly negotiated terms to chop up the remaining prizepool to wrap it up. Full Event 3 results coming shortly.

Event 3: Ricky Young – 4th Place ($1,778)

$150 Deep Stack Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 27: 60,000/120,000/20,000 Ante

Ricky Young
Ricky Young

Dallas Henderson took a big chuck of chips off Ricky Young, and followed up by taking the rest. Young was down to 130,000 and moved all-in from the button.

It was only 10,000 more to Henderson’s big blind and he quickly called to find Ad6h.

“I’m live,” laughed Young.

He tabled Tc4h and couldn’t catch up as the board ran 9s8d6s8c5d to send him out in 4th place for $1,778.

Event 3: Anthony Pellegrini – 6th Place ($1,112)

$150 Deep Stack Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 25: 40,000/80,000/10,000 Ante

Anthony Pellegrini open shoved for his small stack and found calls in Ricky Young and John Duhig to the 8s7d4c flop. Young then moved all to get a fold from Duhig and they tabled their cards.

Pellegrini: KhJd
Young: 8d8c

Young’s top set had Pellegrini looking for a miracle but he was drawing dead after the 4s turn to go out in 6th place for $1,112.
