Monday had one new tournament on the Pinktober Poker Open schedule and it turned out to be a big one. The Seniors Event is always a popular game and the 117 entries more than doubled the $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. In the end, Guy Ward took the title in a heads-up deal with Michael Kerr to win the title along with $5,593.

The WPTDeepStacks Tampa series hit the second day on the schedule and we continue to bring you a steady dose of non-hold’em games. On Thursday it was a $360 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha 8/Big O mix and Ramses Rosa won the second SHR Tampa title of his career.
Tampa loves Omaha and the tournament drew 35 entries on weekday afternoon to create a prize pool worth $10,500. Several of our top players joined the field including Scott Anderson, Wally Maddah, and Event 1 champ Mario De La Puente.
After a long grind, they made the final table and into the money with four getting paid. They played it all the way out and Rosa earned $4,620 plus the guitar trophy after defeating Michael Bozeman heads-up.
This is the second time Rosa took home a title and his first since 2011. That one came in an Omaha 8 game so look out for him when we run the next. Rosa picked up the biggest cash of his career last week when he banked more than $20,000 for a fourth-place finish in the Memorial Day weekend $150 Big Stack Special.

Event 3 continues on its trek to the next WPTDeepStacks Tampa champion but the live updates team is calling it a night. There are two tables remaining with a little work to reach the final table, and then hit the money bubble with five remaining.
Later tonight they will divide up the $10,500 and someone will walk away with the guitar trophy. We will post the results first thing in the morning and announce the winner.

The last four spots will be paid with a min-cash taking home $1,365 while the next champ will earn $4,620 and take home the guitar trophy.

No Limit Hold’em isn’t the only game in town. While Event 1 continues to play into the weekend, we continue to roll out a slate of games for our one-day trophy tournaments. Yesterday it was Limit Omaha 8, today we bring you some Omaha mix.
Event 3 is a $360 buy-in tournament that will switch games between standard Pot Limit Omaha 8 and Big O, the five-card variant of PLO8. A favorite of our local grinders.
Each player will start with a 12,000 stack and 30-minute levels. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 around 6:45 pm after a 30-minute dinner break and players can re-enter as often as needed during that time.
Since this is a one-day tournament, we will crown another WPTDeepStacks Tampa series champion later this evening.

Glyn Griffis
Event 3 was the second multi-day tournament on the Tampa Poker Classic schedule and the early week tournament put together a six-digit prize pool. After a long grind on Day 2, Orlando’s Glyn Griffis topped a tough final table to earn the title along with more than $33,000.
The tournament featured four starting flights and a $100,000 Guarantee. It hit the mark at the start of the fourth flight and the 287 entries created a prize pool worth $143,500. The last 29 spots paid with 56 players returning for Day 2.
They made the money shortly after the first break and Griffis began to assert himself. He quickly moved himself up among the leaders and was the big stack when they reached the final table. Griffis continued to catch big hands as players dropped around him. He had only one hiccup along the way, and it was self-induced.
Griffis made a technical error late on the final table that cost him a third of his stack, a live misclick of an all-in, but he bounced back after the misstep to dispatch Juan Rodriguez heads-up for the outright win.
Our Event 3 champ was excited to collect his first career tournament win. Griffis earned $33,430 for the title and happily packed up his Tampa Poker Classic guitar for the trip back to Orlando.
