Winter Poker Open Day 1 Updates Conclude

Updates from Day 1 of the Winter Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida have concluded. Chip counts through Flight B of the $570 will be posted Friday morning and tournament updates will resume at 11am.

Level 9 is underway and registration is closed in Flight B of the Winter Poker Open $570. It drew 127 entries bringing the two flight total to 301. That accounts for more than $150,000 of the tournament’s $300,000 guarantee and has the event poised to crush its six-figure target.

The first break in the 6pm Flight B is done and players are back in their seats to blinds of 150/300 with a 50 ante. There’s no shortage of familiar faces with John Racener, Marie Harrell, Karl Manouchakian, Tony March, Tom Nguyen and Manny Minaya all a part of the crew.

Topping the counts after the first two hours of play is Alex Beece. From 20,000 starting chips, Beece now claims roughly 65,000 and has tripled his stack.

Tournament announced there will be two more hands played before Flight A of the Winter Poker Open $570 wraps. Nick Costarelis holds the chip lead with 200,000 and will likely coast to the top spot early on. As is, 35 players remain, but another couple could bust over the next two hands.

Nick Costarelis is cruising to kick off Level 14, the final level of the night. Costarelis is piling up and unknown amount of chips, but has a couple hundred worth of gray alone.

The clock shows 45 players remaining and they’re set to log less than 30 minutes of player before we wrap. Still in are Costarelis, Filipp Khavin, Ty Wilson and others.

It’s 6pm in Tampa and Flight B of the Winter Poker Open $570 is off and running. It will match its Flight A predecessor with its players taking their seats to 20,000 starting chips and logging 14, 30-minute levels on Day 1. Registration and re-entry are available until about 10:30pm with play concluding around 1:45am.

Level 12 is a wrap and players in Flight A are on their final break of the night. Players will return to their seats in 15 minutes and they’ll log one more hour of action before bagging and tagging for the evening. Complete chip counts will be posted following the tournament’s.

Over the course of about six hours of play, the field has roughly chopped in a third as less than 60 remain in contention. One recent bustout was the aforementioned Rafael Reis. Reis got felted shoving in to Ty Wison and Wilson’s flopped set of eights was best. Reis hit the rail while Wilson grew his chip stack to 200,000 and took the chip lead.
