James Wong

The second break is complete, the 1K chips have come out of play, and the 100K chips were introduced. James Wong leads the way with 1,795,000 followed by Emmanuel Santos (1,075,000), Juan Carlos Ramirez (1,035,000) and Dave Edwards (1,015,000).

In a shocking turn of events, former one-million stack George Imes was gone shortly after he build his stack. As his table told it, he put 700K in the middle with an open-ended straight draw against Wong’s kings and did not get there.

Hence, Wong the chip leader.

Blinds are up to 5,000/10,000 with a 10,000 ante and the average stack is 530,000 (53 bb). They will play two more levels before taking a 40-minute dinner break.

Manny Minaya

Former Tampa Winter Poker Open champ found himself down to 66,000 and got his chips in the middle with Kc9s flipping against 5s5d. A five on the flop sealed his fate to exit in 38th place.

But according to Minaya, that wasn’t his doom hand. Apparently, George Imes caught a one-outer to leave him short. The hand pushed Imes up to 1,102,000 heading towards the second break.

We missed the action but caught up with the board out and reading Jd3h2c8hKc. Dave Edwards checked from the big blind, Karl Manouchakian moved all in for 279,000 and Edwards called after a short think.

Manouchakian showed a busted flush draw Qh6h and Edwards was best with two pair KhJs to send him out in 47th place.

On the next hand, Edwards was heads with Aiping Jaing and Edwards checked from the small blind with the board reading 9d7d7h6d. Jiang bet 20,000, Edwards check/raised to 90,000 and Jiang called.

The river was 6c, Edwards quickly put out two stacks worth 116,000 and Jiang called. Jiang then immediately mucked when Edwards showed 6c6h for quad sixes.

Edwards moved into the chip lead with a very nice 1,220,000 in his stack.

Emmanual Santos began the day with 344,000 but his current 930,000 leads the field with Siddharth Siddharth next to him with 859,000 for the second biggest in the room. Dave Edwards rounds on the top stacks in the room with 778,000 with a lot close by.

Alan Thomas

It took ten hands before the bubble burst for Event 1 and it was a tough one.

With the board reading Jh6h3s, a middle position player bet 20,000 and Alan Thomas moved all in. The MP player was the shorter of the two stacks, took a few minutes to think it through, and called for 146,000 total.

Thomas: 6c6d
Middle Position: AdAs

Thomas caught a set of sixes to take the lead against the aces, made a boat on the Js turn and burst the bubble after the river Th finished the board.
