Event 6 Day 1B: Charles Honkonen Leads the Field at the Break with 489K

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 17:  3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante
Day 1B Players Remaining:  44 of 289

Christian Roberts, Michael Hernandez, Charles Honkonen
From left to right: 2nd-in-Chips Christian Roberts, Michael Hernandez, and Chipleader Charles Honkonen

The players return from break to begin Level 17, with increased blinds of 3,000-6,000 with a 6,000 ante. With 44 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 197,000 (33 big blinds).

A scan of the field during the break turned up two players with at least 400K in chips, and one more knocking on the door, creating an unofficial leaderboard:

1.  Charles Honkonen  –  489,000  (82 bb)
2.  Christian Roberts  –  405,000  (68 bb)
3.  Justin Mills  –  392,000  (65 bb)

The two biggest stacks, Honkonen and Roberts, are seated at the same table, with just a single seat between them. And the player in that seat — Michael Hernandez — has a solid stack of about 275,000 himself.

The Money Bubble is the same as the end-of-day bubble, and the final 37 players will advance to Day 2, in the money. So it shouldn’t be too long before they are down to 48 players to begin hand-for-hand play.

Aria Homayoun Nejad

Aria Homayoun Nejad is the new player sitting up top on the counts with a cool 247,500 to lead the way. He has about a half dozen levels remaining in the day to hold or expand his lead.

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

The number is official. Flight B of WPT Tampa Event 6 drew 289 entries to create a combined field of 398. The prize pool topped $170,000 and we will release payout information after Flight B bags later this evening.

Flight B will continue until 37 players remain (12.5%) and those players will bag up their chips for a Day 2 return tomorrow at 10 am. They will be in the money at the start of Day 2 along with the 14 who advanced from Flight A.

John Gorsuch

The Flight B field already doubled up the size from Flight A and players continue to join the crowd. Quite a few players are in today’s game after skipping yesterday because they were still in the $1,100 tournament.

John Gorsuch was one of them and he cashed in 20th in Event 5 yesterday afternoon. The 2019 WSOP Millionaire Maker bracelet winner took the night off and back in action today trying to cash in back-to-back days.

Event 6 Day 1B: One Fifty and Counting

$600 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Frank Harrington

Flight B of Event 6 is moving right along, over 150 entries with the first break coming up. That puts it on pace to top the number from Flight A for a nice, early-week tournament.

We found Frank Harrington in today’s field only a few hours after finishing up the Seniors final table. He finished second out of 318 for a nice run heading into the new week.
