Christopher Mo, Event 6 champion

The last week of the WPT Tampa rolled around and introduced another multi-flight tournament. Event 6 was a $600 buy-in Deep Stack tournament that drew 398 entries and Christopher Mo stormed ahead of everyone late to take the title along with $36,600.

The 398 entries combined to create a prize pool worth $209,850 and each flight played down to the money before bagging up. That meant all 51 players returning for Day 2 and the pace was quick when cards went back in the air without a money bubble.

The lead changed hands several times but Mo took command at the final table and built his stack while others were going out. Even while sending a few double up across the table, he maintained a big lead until only three players remained.

Those three quickly agreed to a deal to divide up the remaining prize pool with Mo taking top honors, the trophy, and $36,600. Starting Day 2 chip leader Fred Paradis earned $31,496 for second place while former Tampa champ Manny Minaya took home $24,244 for third.

Congrats to Christopher and good luck in the Championship!

Ronnie Day

Ronnie Day doubled through Jacob Naumann and that’s where the good news ended for him. In a quick run of hands, he went from healthy stack to out in sixth.

First, he sent a small double up to Fred Paradis. Paradis had two live cards with Kd3h against As7s and doubled through Day on the KcJh7c5c4s board.

Next up, Paradis moved all in again for 830,000 and Day shipped in over the top from the button to isolate.

Day: AcKh
Paradis: KcTc

Paradis had big kicker problems and the Jc7s3d flop did him no favors. The Ad turn paired Day and gave Paradis a gutshot Broadway draw that got there on the Qh river.

Day was down to 310,000 after that hand, put those in the middle and Christopher Mo called.

Day: 5c5h
Mo: Ah8h

Day needed to win the race to stay in the game but Mo flopped aces up on the AsTs8d flop. The 6h turn and 3d river finished the board to send Mo the pot. It was a very swinging few minutes for Day and he was unlucky to exit in sixth place.

Christopher Mo – 4,700,000 (78 bb)
Fred Paradis – 1,820,000 (30 bb)
Ronnie Day – Eliminated in 6th Pace ($8,200)

Christopher Mo opened to 165,000 from early position and Ronnie Day moved all in from the button for 625,000. Jacob Naumann reshipped from the small blind to get a fold from Manny Minaya in the big and Mo abandoned his raise.

Day: KcKs
Naumann: AcKh

Day was best with his kings against big slick and they held as the dealer ran it out 7s4d3cJcTd for his double.

Ronnie Day – 1,575,000 (26 bb)
Jacob Naumann – 1,775,000 (30 bb)

Event 6: Karl Manouchakian – 7th Place ($6,885)

Karl Manouchakian

Karl Manouchakian and Christopher Mo were heads up with the board reading AhTs8d when Manouchakian put his last ~630,000 in the middle and Mo had him at risk.

Mo: AcTd
Manouchakian: Ad3d

Manouchakian flopped top pair but Mo was ahead with his aces up. The board finished with 7h turn and 8h for an end to the Tampa Poker Room regulars day.

Christopher Mo – 3,450,000 (58 bb)
Karl Manouchakian – Eliminated in 7th Place ($6,885)

Event 6: Ethan Blauner – 8th Place ($5,990)

Players Remaining:  7 of 398

Ethan Blauner

It folded to Ethan Blauner on the button and he moved all in for 230,000. Fred Paradis folded his small blind and Ronnie Day called in the big.

Day: 8c6c
Blauner: AcTd

Blauner was ahead for a double and paired his ten on the JdTh9d flop. Day flopped an open-ended straight draw and the 7d turn filled it in. Blauner had a river diamond draw and two chop outs but the 6s river ended his day.

Ronnie Day – 1,550,000 (26 bb)
Ethan Blauner – Eliminated in 8th Place ($5,590)
