The money bubble took nearly an entire level to burst, playing past the end of Level 16 and another 15 minutes into Level 17. On the final hand, Jon Heneghan was heads-up to a flop and he bet 16,000 from the small blind.

The cutoff player moved all in for 67,500 total and Heneghan called.

Heneghan’s hand was in trouble and the cutoff was looking at a double until the turn hit the board. Heneghan made jacks up and the river locked up the hand, sent him the pot, and put the field in the money.

With a little over 10 minutes remaining before dinner break, the Seniors Event dropped down to 15 players to put them on the money bubble.

Tournament staff paused the clock to begin hand-for-hand play and they will continue until one player is eliminated. If they get to the end of Level 16, they will keep playing until the bubble is burst to go on dinner.

We caught up to Carlos Evangelista continuing a good day. He was in the process of knocking a player out with versus to build a big stack up to 227,700. Evangelista began his series with a nice run, finishing 24th out of 504 in the opening event.

The start of the week brings the popular Seniors Event and the first of two on the schedule. This version is open to anyone 50 years or older and we have another one later for 60 and up. But for today, you only need to be 50+ to get in the game.

The $250 buy-in tournament has a $10,000 guarantee, 30K starting stacks, and 30-minute levels all day long. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm and players may re-enter as often as needed during that time. Since this is a one-day tournament, we will be crowning a new champion later this evening.

Action gets underway at 11 am and we will pick up the action after registration closes.
