Level 17: 3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Players Remaining: 88 of 659

There was an early-position all-in and Tony March moved all-in for more. The remaining players folded and March had a lone opponent at risk — aces versus kings.

The runout fell blank and March sent one packing.

With that, the field narrowed to 88 with only the top 83 finishing in the money.

It took three starting days and 15 levels of play to narrow the WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event from 659 hopefuls to just 119 remaining. Action in the series finale is slated to resume today at 12-noon with Daniel Chalifour the lead dog claiming 533,000 chips — the only player over a half-million.

Just 83 are set to get in the money meaning the first quarter of the field to bust today will go home empty handed. After the bubble bursts all still in will be assured $1,559. Payouts continue up from there and max out in a $120,842 first prize inclusive of a $3,000 WPTDeepStacks Championship package.

Day 2 Chip Counts | Table Draws | Payouts

Others joining Chalifour for the penultimate day of poker include Alex Kimpel in second place with 436,000 (the only other player over 400,000), David Tuthill, Marvin Karlins, Jeff Trudeau, past champion Anthony Astarita and Steve Trizis.

With 659 total signups, the 2019 WPTDeepStacks Main Event smashed its $500,000 guarantee to the tune of a $639,230 prize pool. Additionally, the strong showing marked a notable year-over-year increase in attendance over 2018’s 620 entries.

The plan for today’s Day 2 is to play all the way down to the nine-handed final table. Those who play their way down will then return tomorrow to compete for the title.

Tournament updates will begin at 12-noon.
