Tanner Enoch is the most recent player to build a stack and he did it quickly. Sitting in the small blind with 20,200 and a nice hand, Enoch watched one player ship all in followed by the short-stacked button calling the shove.

Enoch had to be pleased after he watched all this go down with in his hand. The bigger stack had , the shorter stack had and their was barely a sweat on the . He sent one player out, doubled through the other, and moved up to 76,000 at the midpoint of the day.

No Limit Hold’em isn’t the only game in town. While Event 1 continues to play into the weekend, we continue to roll out a slate of games for our one-day trophy tournaments. Yesterday it was Limit Omaha 8, today we bring you some Omaha mix.

Event 3 is a $360 buy-in tournament that will switch games between standard Pot Limit Omaha 8 and Big O, the five-card variant of PLO8. A favorite of our local grinders.

Each player will start with a 12,000 stack and 30-minute levels. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 around 6:45 pm after a 30-minute dinner break and players can re-enter as often as needed during that time.

Since this is a one-day tournament, we will crown another WPTDeepStacks Tampa series champion later this evening.

Flight C returned from their first break of the day as the entry count hit 75 for the day. It is on pace to top the 106 from Flight A to be the biggest so far.

We found two big stacks during the break but waiting to report of the leader. Sitting at Table 14, one player is sitting with 67,000 but has yet to return. We’ll track down our leader when they return but our second biggest stack is familiar. Previously mentioned Tom Nguyen has 65,000 after four levels for a nice boost to his 20,000 starting stack.

The 2019 WPTDeepStacks Tampa series began with the opening flight of Event 1 but we awarded the first guitar trophy in Event 2. The $360 Limit Omaha 8 tournament drew 36 entries and Tampa regular Mario De La Puente earned the title for $4,000 after a heads-up deal was struck.

Event 2 is part of a nice string of non-hold’em games running during the series and it was a nice turnout for the midweek, mid-June tournament. The created a prize pool worth $10,800. The last four spots paid and it took nearly nine hours to make the money.

The win added to De La Puente’s career stats that has him over $100,000 in career earnings with his biggest cash coming a few weeks ago. He finished second out of 1,647 entries in the $200 May Little Slick series tournament for more than $35,000.

This is the fourth year we have hosted the WPTDeepStacks Tampa series and all three of our former Main Event champions made great runs to earn the title.

Anthony Astarita is back with us today and he was the first to capture the title. He outlasted 538 others to take home more than $130,000 for the win back in 2016. Astarita made a valiant effort to win another and has cashed in every WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event since the beginning.

After a mellow start to the day, we’re seeing more players join as we head towards the afternoon hours. We are closing on 50 entries after the first level and they continue to push their way towards the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Local regular Tom Nguyen took his seat this morning and he can add to an already impressive list of accomplishments. He has over $500,000 in reported live tournament earnings with a handful of SHR Tampa wins. Nguyen picked up the biggest score of his career last August when he final tabled the SHRPO Hollywood Big 4 $2,650 tournament earning nearly $63,000.

The 2019 WPTDeepStacks Tampa series kicked off yesterday with a successful first day. The first two flights of Event 1 drew a combined 185 entries and we will add a bunch more today over the next two. Flight C starts at 11 am in the Poker Room, the third of seven starting flights, with another running at 6 pm.

The $360 buy-in tournament features a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool which will be matched at some point this weekend.

Entrants will sit down to 20,000 deep starting stacks and all tournament levels will last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 around 3:25 pm and they will wrap up their day after Level 14. Survivors will bag up their stacks and join the other 29 players who booked a seat for Day 2 on Sunday.
