The clock is a few moments away from striking the 6 o’clock hour and it’s nearly time for Flight B of the WPTDeepStacks Tampa $570 buy-in, $100,000 guarantee. The evening installment runs on the heels of the morning version which is wrapping on the other side of the room.

Like their pre-noon counterparts, tonight’s Flight B players begin with 25,000 chips and they’re set to log 14, 30-minute levels with registration and re-entry available until the start of Level 9. Those fortunate enough to advance will bag and tag set to return for Day 2 at 12-noon.

The first break is complete and we are approaching 40 entries with a few more hours of registration available. Former Fall Little Slick winner Troy Bercot looks like the current leader with 49,900 after four levels of play.

It’s a small but talented field so far in Event 7 Flight A so far with more of our regulars getting in the early action. It will play out this level and players will be sent on their first break.

Two of the more recent arrivals were Mark “Bud” Wiser and Tony March. Both went deep in the 1,012-entry Event 1 field and both added another cash to the list of accomplishments.

You can’t miss it when Marvin “The Duckman” Karlins is in the room and finds a particular winning hand. The SHR Tampa player is a popular staple in the room and famous for his “duck call” whenever he wins with pocket deuces, the ducks. It’s early in the day and we’ve already heard it once today.

Flight A crept up another few entries over the last level on the way to a nice little day of poker with Flight B coming a later this evening.

Blind level is up but the blinds stay the same as the big blind ante comes into play. We see 29 souls in the game so far as a few more sleepy Monday players take a seat.

Kevin Blewitt was one of the early ones even though he had a long Sunday. He was part of the 155 returning players for Event 1 (out of 1,012 entries) and played for a while until he was part of a seven-way deal at the final table. Blewitt was in the middle of that pack and took home $22,769 for an official fourth-place finish.
