$1,650 Winter Poker Open Main Event $500,000 Guaranteed | Structure Level 4: 200/300 with a 300 ante Flight C Entries: 151
The first break is complete and entry count clicked over 150 while they were gone. The prize pool is only a handful of entries away from crossing over $600,000.
After a walk among the tables, we found the biggest stack belonged to AJ “Doc” Santos. But in true Doc form, he has yet to return to action after the break and it might be because he found a juicy PLO cash game. Since he has enough chips, for now, he can splash around in some four-card fun.

After a short delay to get everyone settled, cards are in the air for Day 1C of the Winter Poker Open Main Event. There are 36 entries at the start with another six spots guaranteed thanks to the big turnout in the 9 am satellite.
They will play three 40-minute levels before taking the first break of the day and the tournament should hit its $500,000 guaranteed prize pool before then.

It’s the last Saturday on the Winter Poker Open schedule and it the last chance to put together a Day 2 bag in the $1,650 buy-in Main Event.
The tournament drew 240 entries over the first two flights to leave it only 94 away from surpassing the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. It will get there early in the day and continue climbing into the evening.
Austin Buchanan has the current Day 2 lead and it is a big one. He put 639,000 away in Flight A, Mark Zhang bagged 283,000 in Flight B and that wasn’t enough to crack the top three. Second place Ken O’Donnell has 452,000 with Haitham Kaki in third bagging 407,000.
Today will play out like the first two flights. Players will sit down to 30,000 starting stacks and all Day 1 levels last 40 minutes, increasing to 60 on Day 2. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 around 6:30 pm after the one-hour dinner break. Flight C will come to an end after Level 15 and survivors will return tomorrow at 11 am for Day 2.
Cards fly at 11 am and it will be a fun, packed Poker Room all day long.

$1,650 Winter Poker Open Main Event $500,000 Guaranteed | Structure End of Level 15: 2,000/3,000 with a 3,000 ante Flight B Players Remaining: 22 of 134
Flight B of the Main Event has come to an end with 22 players advancing to Day 2 on Sunday. Mark Zhang grabbed and lost the lead several times throughout the day then eliminated Hunter Cichy to finish at the top. Ken Fishman is not far behind in a tight group of stacks.
None of them came close to the 639,000 that Austin Buchanan bagged up in Flight A.
We have 36 players with confirmed seats into Day 2 and we will add a bunch more tomorrow as Flight C pushes the Main Event over the $500,000 guarantee.

We did not see the preflop action but the result was Hunter Cichy had his ~90,000 stack in the middle from the button against Mark Zhang in the small blind and in great shape.
Cichy: Zhang:
Cichy was in even better shape after hitting a set on the flop. The first piece of bad news came on the turn to give Zhang the first part of his backdoor flush draw and the river finished it off to send Cichy out late in the day.

Flight B has reached the last level of the evening with 23 players remaining and it will close to 18 before they wrap it up.
A lot of stacks have been fluctuating including Mark Zhang who was well over 300,000 but now back down to average. Wally Maddah hit the rail while Terri-Anne Crawford is up to 240,000. It is still anyone’s game as far as bagging the chip lead but it does not look like anyone is catching the 639,000 Flight A bag of Austin Buchanan.
