Marie Harrell

The field is filling in and more familiar faces are getting into the game. And then there’s the family grinding together.

We’re used to seeing Marie Harrell in our big games throughout the year. Her most recent big score came in the delayed WPTDeepStacks Immokalee that ran in Hollywood this past April and she also has a WPTDeepStacks final appearance in Jacksonville.

Now her son Trey is trying to follow in her successful footsteps and he’s in the field this afternoon as well.

Brent Pasquarella

Brent Pasquarella opened the action from the button and the small blind opponent three-bet shoved for 6,675. The big blind released and Pasquarella called to put him at risk.

Pasquarella: Th7h
Small Blind: 4h4d

Not a conventional coin flip but Pasquarella picked up the KO when the board ran JdJc9h7d3h to pair his seven.

Anthony Astarita

This is the third running of the WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event which means we’ve only had two past champions. And one of them is playing today.

Anthony Astarita won the inaugural Main Event in 2016 by topping the 538-entry seat for more than $130,000. He also went deep in the Main Event last year and made it down to the last three tables.

Michael Parisi

The first break is complete and cards are back in the air. They have another three levels to look forward to before doing it again.

Unlike the previous events in the series, we had no standout stacks after two hours of play. Michael Parisi, down here from Chicago for the Main Event, had one of the bigger stacks with 44,000 and that puts him at or near the top.

We expect to see much bigger stacks in two hours.

Stephen Moss

The field is filling in as we hit the afternoon hours and we have our second win-a-seat drawing winner in the house. In addition to the previously mentioned Ron Montgomery, Stephen Moss put his name in the hat and the Tampa resident received his notice to come on down.

Main Event Day 1A: Quentin Jones Back for More

Quentin Jones

We found Andrew Pacifico a bit earlier, taking part thanks to his Event 1 win, and now we have Quentin Jones in the field. But unlike Pacifico, Jones did not have much time to rest up before taking his seat.

Jones defeated a tough final table for an outright win in Event 3, no chop, and he had every chip when the tournament was complete. He earned nearly $32,000 for winning the three-day tournament and now he’s using his Main Event seat after a few hours of sleep.

Andrew Pacifico

We found another way players could enter the WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event. Capture a preliminary event title.

Besides winning the cash in one of our two multi-day preliminaries, the Event 1 and Event 3 champs also earned a seat in today’s field. Andrew Pacifico crushed the Event 1 final table to open the series and walked away with more than $60,000. The Jacksonville grinder is using his Main Event seat this afternoon and sitting with Ron Montgomery, one of our win-a-seat winners.

Ron Montgomery

There are a few different ways to get into the Main Event. The two standards are the obvious direct buy-in and those in the game after winning seats via satellites.

But we have one other way. Each major series we have a random drawing and winners get their seat into the Main Event just for entering their name.

Three players had their entry drawn from the virtual hat and we expect to see all of them today.

Tampa’s Ron Montgomery was the first one to get here and he’s already in action trying to make the most of his freeroll.
