Steve Collins

Steve Collins has quietly amassed a solid stack at his respective table. He recently chipped up a tad in a heads-up, raised pot that saw him lead the flop, turn and river before his opponent folded. Collins took a medium-sized pot and grew his stack up to nearly 200,000.

Steve Collins – 194,000

Chip leader, Chris Gilkey

Registration is closed and it’s down to the nitty gritty with no more re-entries allowed. Leading the way in the middle/late stages of play is Chris Gilkey. Gilkey has a tough table that includes former November Niner John Dolan, but he’s found his way to a 170,000-chip stack.

Chris Gilkey – 170,000

$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 9: 500/1,000 with a 1,000 Ante
Flight B Entries: 108 (Total Entries: 158)

The field is shrinking faster than it’s growing midway through Level 9. A flurry of recent bustouts has the clock showing players still in the game from 108 starting. Among the most recent eliminations are Mark “Bud” Wiser and Anthony Dianaty. Should they choose, they can still get back in the game for another 30 minutes or so.

Mark Wiser – Eliminated
Anthony Dianaty – Eliminated

Event 5: Another Hour of Late Registration Left

$565 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8: 400/800 with an 800 Ante
Flight B Entries: 106 (Total Entries: 156)

Michael Laake

Flight B of the Pinktober $560 has climbed deeper and deeper into the structure since kickoff nearly six hours ago. The event affords 30,000-chip starting stacks and 40- and 60-minute levels, though, leaving plenty of play far into registration. One player taking advantage of the extended play is Mike Laake.

Laake is one of the newest entries in the game and he eyes a second Tampa win at this pricepoint. He previously bested 634 entries in the 2015 Winter Poker Open $560 earning $54,756.

Registration and re-entry in this event is available until about 4:45pm local time. We will provide the final attendance figure after it’s final.

Event 5: Chop-Chop for Rafael Reis

$565 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8: 400/800 with an 800 Ante
Flight B Entries: 102 (Total Entries: 152)

The aforementioned Rafael Reis was licking his chops in a recent pot. Bob Gallo raised the cutoff to 2,000 and the button called. Reis shoved the small blind for a measily 5,100 and both players called.

The flop fell AcAd8c. Gallo checked and the button bet 1,000. Gallo folded and Reis was at risk.

Reis: AhKd for trip aces
Button: AsKh for trip aces

The pair exchanged a laugh turning over the same hand. If that wasn’t enough, though, the turn fell the Kc giving them both a full house.

The money was getting in at some point regardless of stacks, but nobody was ever going to win anything.

Reis was able to find the winner’s circle in a few subsequent all-in pots and has climbed back to starting stack.

Rafael Reis – 32,000

Event 5: Rafael Reis Looks to Parlay a Cash

$565 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 7: 300/600 with a 600 Ante
Flight B Entries: 98 (Total Entries: 148)

The first break’s a wrap and players are back in their seats with the clock showing 98 registered. Today’s turnout uptick over yesterday’s flight wasn’t unexpected as yesterday saw 65 potential entries tied up in Day 2 of the $250. One of those potential entries was Rafael Reis who went on to record a small cash in the $250 before taking the rest of the evening off.

Rafael Reis

Well rested and with a fresh cash, Reis is among the field here in Friday’s Flight B. The Florida regular has enjoyed loads of success, most notably winning the largest tournament in Florida sate history — the 2016 Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open kickoff event in Hollywood. That $360 buy-in tournament drew 5,018 entries smashing the $1,000,000 guarantee. For the historic win, Reis earned $155,642 and etched his name firmly in the poker history books.

A deep run here wouldn’t break any records, but it does have the potential to move Reis closer to the $1,000,000 mark in career earnings.

Event 5: Mikhail Rami Climbing in Level 6

$565 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 6: 300/500 with a 500 Ante
Flight B Entries: 93 (Total Entries: 143)

Mikhail Rami

Mikhail Rami has made the most of the early stages of play claiming 150,000 chips. That figure is good for the chip lead, but with registration and re-entry available for nearly three more hours and play scheduled to go about seven more hours, there’s loads of poker left to be decided. Nonetheless, Rami’s stack is a good start as he currently sits on 300 big blinds.

Mikhail Rami – 150,000

Event 5: Rockets for Tom Nguyen

$565 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$200,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 4: 200/300 with a 300 Ante
Flight B Entries: 88 (Total Entries: 138)

Tom Nguyen (right) and Ron Lane

Ron Lane raised the cutoff and Tom Nguyen promptly three-bet the button. The blinds folded sending action back to Lane who called. They were heads up.

Flop: 9h2h2c – Lane checked and Nguyen bet 3,000. Lane raised to 8,000. Nguyen through for a moment, then re-raised to 12,000. Lane called and the pair saw the turn.

Flop: 9h2h2c2s – Lane checked and Nguyen jammed. Lane called off his last roughly 18,000 chips and the hands were turned up.

“I knew you had aces!” Lane exclaimed to his opponent.

Nguyen: AsAc for deuces full of aces
Lane: AhKh for trip deuces, ace-king high

River: 9h2h2c2s5d

Lane was felted while Nguyen stacked a pile.

Tom Nguyen – 92,000
Ron Lane – Eliminated
