Tom Nguyen has stacked chips in both the Thursday and Friday 10am flights, but hasn’t been able to find a bag. He’s fired a few entries at this, and hopes today’s entry in the Flight D is his last.

Nguyen shares his table with another Tampa regular, Mark “Bud” Wiser. Like Nguyen, Wiser isn’t on his first buy-in here in the $565. He’s busted each of the Thursday and Friday morning flights and looks for better luck on the weekend.

Jerry Silva came back from break as the clear chip leader, but got squirrelly soon after cards went back in the air. Silva lead three streets with ace-high before getting called down by second pair. Despite the hit, Silva still sits at or near the top of the counts in a growing field that now boasts 113 entries.

One other player having a good go of the early stages is Tammy Leonard. Both Silva and Leonard claim about 100,000 chips.

Anthony Pellegrini busted late in yesterday’s Flight B and is back in the game here in Flight D. Regardless of the outcome of this $565, the Tampa regular has already notched some good success. His 50 recorded cashes are highlighted by a win in the 2015 Winter Poker Open PLO event and a $7,000 score in an in-room series a few months after.

Pellegrini looks to recapture some of the rungood from that winter and parlay it into a score here in the Pinktober Poker Open.

Just over an hour into the day and the Saturday play is not disappointing. With 89 entries late in Level 2, it’s leaps and bounds ahead of any other of the starting flights and will likely flirt with pushing the event past the $200,000 guarantee by the time it’s over.

There are a number of familiar faces in the game and we’ll take a look at a few of them throughout the early stages of play.

Three starting flights are already in the books and it’s nearly time for the fourth here in Event 5 of the Pinktober Poker Open at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa. The field sits at 243 entries and today’s play will assuredly give the tournament the kick it needs to crack 400 and best the $200,000 guarantee. A total of 39 players have already advanced to Day 2 and it’s Wil McCraney’s chip-leading, 512,000-chip stack that everyone’s chasing.

As they have in the previous two flights, players in today’s $565 Pinktober event begins with 30,000 chips and they’re slated to play 14, 40-minute levels. Registration and re-entry are available until about 4:45pm and unlimited re-entry is permitted until then.
