AJ “Doc” Santos is a Seminole Hard Rock Tampa regular. He’s usually good for numerous entries and even more laughs in any event he plays. Santos has been a glaring absence from the series thus far, but is in the midst of his 2017 debut in Flight C.

Recently, with a raise to 1,200 and two callers, Santos three-bet to 3,700. He promptly received four callers and they saw a king-high flop. It checked to Santos who jammed about 15,000. The players folded and he took the pot uncontested.

With the $300,000 guaranteed live streamed WPTDeepStacks Main Event just two days away, some familiar Florida faces are filing in to the Tampa tournament floor. One of the most familiar faces, that of Zoltan Czinkota, arrived earlier this afternoon. Czinkota has a trip to Las Vegas and the World Series of Poker planned and is here to sharpen his game before catching a flight west next week.

He’s one of the newest entries in Flight C as the clock now shows 112 at the start of Level 6. He was recently spotted dragging a pot holding on an board. The opponent open-folded pocket queens and Czinkota showed the same hand plus a club draw.

With 106 entries, Flight C of the WPTDeepStacks $350 is officially the largest yet. That puts the combined field at 308, just 26 short of the event’s $100,000 guarantee. That figure should be hit in the next couple hours, but if not will surely be bested before cards go in the air for the 6pm Flight D.

Late registration in Flight C is open until 3:30pm. Flight D begins at 6pm with late registration until 10:30pm.

Defending WPTDeepStacks-Tampa Main Event champion Anthony Astarita narrowly missed a bag in last night’s Flight B after some bad luck sent him home late in the day. He had maneuvered his stack up to about 95,000 when he looked down at . He was heads up in a three-bet pot and worked his way to a turn. He had position on his opponent who had him covered. The opponent shoved and Astarita eventually called his stack off with the overpair. The opponent turned over — king-high with no draw. Astarita loved the spot, but the on the river left him stunned. The opponent hit one of his three outs and Astarita surrendered a pot worth 200,000. With that, he hit the rail.

Astarita is back in action today in Flight C hoping to again put himself position to bag a monster.
