As has been customary, defending WPTDeepStacks-Tampa Main Event champion Anthony Astarita and defending Player of the Series Karl Manouchakian took the morning flight off and are in action here in the evening flight.

Anthony Astarita
Karl Manouchakian

Both fired multiple bullets in the $570 opener with Manouchakian’s min-cash and $1,070 score going down as the pair’s highlight in the event.

Astarita claimed a $130,000 score last year while Manouchakian owns two major tournament victories and nearly $125,000 worth of tournament earnings, much of which came right here at the Seminole Hard Rock. With their pedigree, a deep run is more of a matter of “when” than “if.”

Wally Maddah

“I hope I don’t bag today,” Seminole Hard Rock Tampa poker ambassador Wally Maddah was overheard saying at Table 8.

When questioned on it, he explained further,

“That’s means I have to take [tomorrow] off!” he said.

Maddah bagged Thursday’s $570 Flight B and was forced to take Friday and Saturday off from the subsequent flights. Having learned his lesson the hard way, Maddah is tossing chips around in Flight B of the $350. By his own estimation, he won six of the first seven hands he played in Flight B.

Level 13: 1,000/2,000/300
Flight A Players Remaining: 30/98

Level 13 is underway meaning just one hour of play remains in Flight A of the WPTDeepStack $350. The field has narrowed from 98 starters to just 30 remaining. They’ll log two more levels of play before bagging, tagging and returning for Day 2 Wednesday at 12pm.

Herbert Woodbery, Ty Wilson, Joey Alegria and Mike “Gascard” Collins are among the notables still in, but it’s Adnan Kazim that leads the way.

Adnan Kazim

Kazim claims a stack of roughly 200,000 and has all but assured himself a Day 2 berth.

Complete chip counts will be posted after play concludes.

Ty Wilson

Like Mike Collins, Ty Wilson experienced some success in yesterday’s $570. Wilson bested Collins, finishing 20th and earning $1,956. The pair shares a table here in the $350 and while Wilson isn’t over 100,000 like Collins, he has more than tripled up in the first six hours of play.

With an average stack of 54,000, Wilson is sitting pretty with about 70,000.
