Event 12: Phillips Going for Another Turbo Title

$150 Deep Stack Turbo NL Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/250 with a 25 ante
Entries: 45

Alan Phillips

Less than an hour into the Turbo event and they are already putting out antes. This promises to flow fast until the end. We have 45 entries in the game and we expect a steady stream to the re-entry desk.

Alan Phillips knows a little something about winning Turbo tournaments. He was the big stack standing at the end of Sunday’s Event 8 Turbo for $4,900 and he’s back again today. That win continued a nice recent run for Phillips. He won $360 Big Stack event during the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” and followed that up with a fourth-place finish in WPO Event 6.

A table broke shortly after cards went back in the air following the 30-minute dinner break. As luck would have it, two of the more notable players still in are seated right next to eachother. In Seat 9 is defending champion Bo Bloom while World Series of Poker bracelet winner and current chip leader Andre Boyer is on his direct left in Seat 10.

With 39 players still in the action, the money is far away yet with only the top 18 earning a score.

Amelio Amato

For Amelio and Shari Amato, today’s Classic Rockers event is a family affair. The poker-playing husband and wife duo has experienced tremendous success, both owning six figures in career earnings.

With the 145-entry starting field in today’s event already down to 63, both are putting themselves in position to add to their resumes. Additionally, they’re seated at adjacent tables and can keep tabs on the eachother quite easily.

At present, Amelio has the edge on his better half claiming 55,000 chips to her 45,000.

Level 7: 250/500 with a 75 ante

Wally Maddah

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa ambassador Wally Maddah has had a tough go of it early. He kicked off the Seniors Classic Rockers event running his flopped set into the Royal Flush of Shari Amato.

Maddah had a stack and was still fighting, but met some more misfortune a few hands later. Maddah was in the small blind eyeing a raise from the button. He three-bet, the button moved all-in and he called.

Maddah: ThTd
Button: 9h9d

Runout: AcJc2c9c5s

Maddah was feeling good after the flop, but the button spiked a set on the turn for a come-from-behind win. Maddah acknowledged her win with a, “Nice hand” and shipped the double her way.

Despite the cold streak, the ambassador is still alive in the event.
