John Pappas checked and Ryan Sponaugle (pictured) bet 7,000 on the turn with the board reading Th8c7sQs. Pappas called and the 4h fell on the river.

Pappas checked again and Sponaugle hesitated for a moment.

“I normally bet here, but for some reason I think you have a set,” said Sponaugle as he tabled QcTh, good for top two pair.

Pappas smiled and showed KsJc, good for a missed straight draw and Sponaugle took the pot.

Event 5: Barbara Cardin Eliminated

$155 No Limit Hold’em

Level 10: 500/1,000/100

Barbara Cardin moved all in for her last 14,000 preflop and got called. Cardin showed AsTs and needed to find a ten against her opponent’s AcKd.

She found a ten on the flop as the dealer burned and turned a flop of QsTc8c and took the lead. She would need to fade a king or a jack to stay alive, but the Kh peeled off on the turn to leave Cardin in dire straights.

The river is the 4d and Cardin is eliminated late in the second flight.

$155 No Limit Hold’em

Level 10: 500/1,000/100

Ryan Sponaugle raised on the button and called an all in from the player in the big blind.

Sponaugle tabled Qs2s and was in bad shape against the big blind’s 4c4h.

The flop was AhJs3c, keeping the big blind in the lead. The turn is the 4d, which gave the big blind a set, but Sponaugle a gutshot straight draw. The river was the 5c and Sponaugle makes a straight and scoops the pot.

“I thought he was ready to gamble,” said Sponaugle as he stacked his newly acquired chips.

Sponaugle improves his chip stack to 42,000.

We haven’t seen him play many pots and rarely goes to showdown, but Manny Minaya (pictured) has quietly amassed a stack of chips that is reaching the 100,000 mark and is the chip leader for the flight.

Here is a look at the top five chip stacks:

1. Manny Minaya – 98,000
2. Oscar Lindo – 84,000
3. Paul DiSciullo – 76,000
4. Scott Caracciolo – 64,000
5. John Pappas – 63,000

Event 5: Lindo Hits a Gutshot

There was a raise in early position to 2,000. Oscar Lindo (pictured) called from the small blind and the big blind called as well.

Three players took a flop of Ah8h6c and it was checked around. The turn was the 8d and Lindo leads out for 2,000 and is called only by the big blind.

The river is the 7c and Lindo leads out for 7,000. The big blind sips his coffee while contemplating his decision. After almost two minutes in the tank, the big blind tosses in 7,000 and looks frustrated when Lindo tables Tc9c, good for a straight.

The big blind mucks his hand and Lindo is up to 84,000 in chips.

Event 5: Thompson’s Royal Busts Quads

Ben Thompson (pictured) was facing an all in on the river with the board reading QcTc6cTdKc.

“I got to call you,” said Thompson. “You got a full house?”

Thompson’s opponent tables TsTh, good for quad tens.

“Quads huh,” said Thompson. “I only got the nut flush.”

Thompson tabled AcJc and thought that he had lost the pot. The dealer and the table informed him that he had a royal flush and he scooped the pot.

If this hand took place in a cash game, they would have hit the $50,000 bad beat jackpot, but Thompson will have to settle for the pot. He is sitting with 34,000.
