Richard Hope
Thumbs Up for Chip Leader Richard Hope

After two huge hands, Richard Hope is the overwhelming chip leader with 740k.  “I ‘hope’ I get more (chips),” jokes Hope who’s gets a fortunate double-up through Rob Gill.

Hope is in bad shape with KK against Gill’s AA, but a four flush gets him a 250k double up and takes him to more than 500k.

The hand cripples Gill, who eventually goes out in 16th place. But before Gill’s elimination, Hope gets the better of Tim Harrell in an AK vs AQ situation with Hope’s big slick holding for another 200k.

Harrell finishes in 17th place as he and Gill both take home $484.

Hope has more than double the next closest chip stack. “You might as well add the guitar (trophy),” jokes one player while taking Hope’s chip leading photo.

Rob Gill
Gill Breaks Bubble Adds to Chip Lead

It doesn’t take long to lose seven players as the bubble breaks during the second level of Day 2 play.

Wally Maddah (Tampa, FL) goes out on the double-bubble (29th) with 99 against the set of 2s by John Pappas (Tampa, FL).

One table over Wade Whidden (Valrico, FL) puts the last of chips in with {ah]7h against the ThTdof Rob Gill (Tampa, FL). The board of K-K-9-6-5 is no help and Whidden is the bubble boy.

The remaining 27 players are in the money for a min cash of $435 as they play for the top prize of $13,535, the custom guitar trophy and the $1,650 entry into the Championship Event (Dec 18-21).
