$350 buy-in tournament more than triples the $50,000 guarantee as 516 entries vie for a shot at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa victory.
It’s Tampa. Everyone speculated the event would be big, but no one knew just exactly how big. Yesterday at 11 a.m., that questions was answered.
The $350 buy-in Memorial Day Deep Stack bested the $50,000 guarantee barely 10 minutes into the day and by Level 2 the field crossed the 250-entry mark. The Tampa faithful turned out in droves and made the event a huge success. In total, 516 loyal entries made their way to the Seminole Hard Rock and amassed a prize pool of $154,800 — an unheard of figure for an in-house, one-day event. Following 14 hours of play, Neri Sanchez emerged victorious in a six-way chop.
Sanchez, who is 35 years old and resides in St. Cloud, Fla., pocketed $25,000 moving him just south $150,000 in reported career earnings.

The event went off without a hitch and bodes well for the property’s upcoming WPTDeepStacks series June 9th-20th. Headlined by a $1,100 buy-in, $300,000 guaranteed Main Event and complemented by $570/$200,000 and $350/$100,000 prelims, there’s no telling what’s in store for the next series less than two weeks away.
