RECAP
Woody Johnson takes home $3,657 after topping a field of 55 players in the fourth event of the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Spring Poker Open, a $210 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Turbo.
The bartender from Sarasota, FL defeated Kyle Peck in a heads-up battle that only lasted three hands to take home the first place prize money and the title.
During six-handed play, the table was talking about a chop, but one was never reached, mostly because of Johnson wanting to play it out.
“It feels good,” said Johnson after the victory. “Especially because I was the one that didn’t want to chop. I don’t like to chop. I’ve been knocked out of these final tables before and I still don’t like to do it.”
Johnson topped a final table that was full of local regulars, including Wally Maddah and Konstantinos Pantaridis. Pantaridis just missed out on cashing in this event, finishing in 8th place and making his second final table of the day. Pantaridis jumped into the event after finishing fourth in the $560 No Limit Hold’em event and proceeded to make another final table in the night cap.
Along with the prize money, Johnson earns a $1,650 entry into the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Spring Poker Open Championship event, which carries a $300,000 guarantee with it.
